(WIP) Scifi A.D.H. Medical Bay [Commercial]

acharyapolinaacharyapolina Posts: 726

So currently I am working on a Scifi room Medical Bay. Here are some renders.

All models are animatable. for example the medicine cabnets, all the doors swing open. The medical bed moves back and forth, under the scanning device that also rotates 360 degrees around the pasient for scanning. There is also an robot arm that does surgery that is all individual pieces that can rotate 360 degrees around the med bed plus each piece rotates on its own allowing the user to position it correctly over the pasient for sergery.

Also included is a medical try table with indiviuwal medical devices on it that I am currently work on. as well as a stasis container that animates with a lid that pulls up showing the vials of frozed viruses or medicine in stasis.

And there are also 2 different desks avalible to be placed in the room.

Anyways, it is a work in progress, any comments or critiques are most welcome.

Thanks :)

Wow very cool! I'm glad a lot of stuff is movable.

Yea I find it to be frustrating if I purchase something that should have movable parts but it turns out that it does not. :P

By the way, Love your Renders. they are really good quality. What do you use to get them so clear? Iray or something else?

The medical bay looks very nice, but ...

... the texture of the walls looks confusing in my opinion. A smooth texture would probably look better and more like a sci-fi room.

... the tank and the cable at the bottom block the rotation of the medical bed. It would be better to remove them in my opinion.

... the medical bed and the scanning device should be tiltable in my opinion.

The medical bed was not origanally made to rotate. only the bed move back and forth. However that is a good idea. to make the whole thing rotatable. :) and making them tiltable would also be cool.

Ahhhhh. that makes sense. Octane render is pretty good. however I am having a hard time figuring out how to use the emission shader with it. Do you know how?

The texture on the walls is a bit overwheming.  I agree that a smooth texture would look better.

Apart from that, this is a really  impressive effort.

    Cheers,

    Alex.

Thanks Alex. I will try a smooth texture as you and wizard1200 sugested.

I actually like the current texture on the walls. (And I think the whole thing looks nice). :-)

If you're going to try a smooth texture, would it be possible to keep the original texture as an option? (Or make it so it would be easy to swap out textures?)

  • acharyapolinaacharyapolina Posts: 726

Yea thats a good Idea. The current texture I was also thinking of maybe dulling it out a little, as it is quite distracting in the background. but I will try a few different Ideas. Thank you to everyone who has commented. They are all great points to consider. :)

So I have decided on 3 different wall background to the set. that way anyone can chose what sutes them best.

Definitely the third one. I really like the subtle, marble-like pattern to the texture.  It strikes the right balance between an uniform colour, which would look too bland, and the original texture, which is a little overpowering and distracts from the foreground action.

This is a most impressive set and shows great promise.

    Cheers,

    Alex.

So here is an image of the Medical bed, It will be set up so you can move the bed back and forth along the metal bars, for complete scanning on the pasient from hed to toe. With a slider.

Next the Scanning device its, self will be rotatable 360 degrees. thats the ring in the centre, with the two glowing plates.

Next the base of the scanning bed will be rotatable 360 degrees as well. So I think this will make for a very good prop for Scifi medical scenes.

Ah, yes. I definitely like those. Having the three options adds flexibility, too. So if you want something more pristine you have that, but you could also have a really shiny "new" tile, as well as a less shiny older tile if you wanted to age the settings. :-)

Personally, I find the white wall a little odd against the metal floor (mostly because the white wall looks more clinical pristine, whereas the metal floor seems more "practical," but that should be easy enough to retexture on our end if we need to.

Including different texture sets is a great idea.

Would it be possible to load the wall texture of the second picture and the ground texture of the third picture?

Perhaps it would be better to use a round area on the floor around the medical bed.

It would be great if you could add a laser scalpel and a syringe to the robot arm.

So here are the other object in the scene. the cabnet shows that the doors open and close. auctally all the objects inside the cabnet are indiviuwal. all bottles and boxes are single objects, so included is a set of cabnets that are completely empty so the artist can populate them as they want but I also included a cabnet set that is already populated.

Both desks, showing what is on them, there is a cryo stasis tank for keeping viruses cold, and it is animated with a slider. and also a medical table with individuwal objects on it.

So Here are two more floor veriations, I set the room up so that all floor and walls have individual presets, so you can use any walls with any floors.

Those floors look excellent. I love that there's variations. :-D

And I like the objects in the scene as well. It's great that you have these items available individually. (That always makes me happy when I'm considering an environment/scene).

I can definitely see having a use for this in the future.

Ok so here is the robot arm, It will come in 2 colours. black and a whiteish blue. 360 degrees rotatable around celing disk. Also 360 degrees rotatable around rotating arm. Also laser scalpel and a syringe.

A few additional suggestions and questions :)

The first joint of the robot arm at the ceiling disk looks a little bulky in my opinion. Perhaps a direct connection would look better.

The quadratic part of the robot arm looks a little bulky compared to the other parts of the arm in my opinion. Perhaps a direct connection would look better.

Is it possible to open and close the 'hand' of the robot arm?

Currently no. It is acuwally more like a laser device. as you can see in the picture here.

And next is an image of what the full arm looks like from front view.
