You need to download and install the genesis 2 male base. Should be in your product library or available via DIM.

I'm also getting a funny message on loading M6, and yes, I have installed the G2 Male Base. It keeps telling me there's a missing file and as a result M6 may not load or work correctly. This is what it wants: /data/Age of Armour/Subsurface Shaders/AoA_Subsurface/AoA_Subsurface.dsf

But I have no idea what this is, where it is, or even if it's supposed to be there. Help?

What version of DS are you using, Help > About DAZ Studio will tell you.

You should have the shader as it comes with DS4.6. If you are using an older version of DS, you need this (free)

    http://www.daz3d.com/subsurface-shader-base

This product is included FREE as a separate download with DAZ Studio 4.6.)

Funny, I just updated to 4.6 and didn't see that anywhere. Used DIM to do it, so maybe that's why it got missed. Getting it now, thanks.

You need the Default Lights and Shaders for DAZ Studio. If you have DAZ Studio in your account then you can download it through DIM or the Product Library.

The default content for DAZ Studio has been broken into 4 parts:

    Genesis Starter Essentials
    Genesis 2 Male Starter Essentials
    Genesis 2 Female Starter Essentials
DAZ Studio Default Lights and Shaders

Anyone who uses DAZ Content will need to download all 4 of these items (you get them free with Studio).

How did you install Genesis 2 Male Starter Essentials (DIM or manually)?

I have that file in my data folder at the address listed.

Have a look in your 'data' folder to see if you can find data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 2\Male, there is quite a lot of stuff in there, about 20 MB. The data folder must be in a folder that is listed as a DAZ Studio Formats folder in the Content Directory Manager, where did you install G2M into?

I'm guessing if this is the case you are loading G2M through the Smart Content Pane correct? The issue is that when you install with DIM, DIM automatically imports the metadata into Studio for you. So you will see icons to load the product in Smart Content. However the location that DIM installs to isn't necessarily mapped in DAZ Studio. Go into DIM and look under the 'Ready to Install' tab. Check the 'Show Details' button at the bottom of the interface and look to see where DIM is installing your content to.

Once you've done that open Studio and go to your Content Directory Manager (Edit-->Preferences-->Content Library-->Content Directory manager) and add the location listed in DIM under DAZ Studio Formats.

    DIM bug?

In DIM I found some stuff "NOT INSTALLED" (not installed completely)
Some "part of product" is are stay out..

I check the DIM folder and specially the >\Daz 3D\ folder and I found some "LOST"
    e.g. Genesis 2 basic Male!

I manually "copy" the Data folder to my content DATA, and I found back some lost!
After this I proceed to other folder and copy manually, I was surprise by the result.

Could be annoying the "Starter Genesis 2 Male" forgot to copy the main icon in data folder in "my content" user library

If you go to the Installed tab in the DIM, you can right click on any installed item, and then right click and select 'Installed Files' and that will tell you what has been installed and to where. The G2M files installed correctly for me using DIM.

Are you sure that they didn't install? DIM installs to a folder called 'My DAZ 3D Library', do you have that listed in the Content Directory Manager?

My file is called IM00016280-03_Genesis2MaleStarterEssentials.zip, and it is 95.9 MB, is that the same one you are installing. You can find the downloaded zip file in C:\Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\Downloads.

If it is not the same size, you will need to uninstall it, and redownload the file again.

    These two files

    /People/Genesis 2 Male/Genesis 2 Base Male.duf
    /People/Genesis 2 Male/Genesis 2 Base Male.png

are what appear in the Content Library, are they in your list of installed files?

more simple, to check if all install goes good
i create a "NEW USER LIBRARY" and install ONLY Genesis2Male startUp!!!

these two file are not found in user library!
    /People/Genesis 2 Male/Genesis 2 Base Male.duf
    /People/Genesis 2 Male/Genesis 2 Base Male.png

there is no problem with the downloaded file by DIM, only problem with the script install!

    - the download is correct,
    - the file list is correct

fixed when > I manualy copy the data folder of DIM to my user library!

from this problem I discover other "older" install where some files are not install in my product library
so, i manulay copy all install by DIM and NOW i see more LOST!

when Daz3d show me a message "????????.???" file are -not found,
i use explorer SEARCH to see where is the missing file and i fix manualy with copy!

The folder that holds you 'data' folder for your original install, is not be listed as a DAZ Studio Formats folder in the Content Directory Manager. You need to look in the Content Directory Manager to see what is listed there under DAZ Studio Formats.

If you use the little gear icon at the top right of the DIM, you can tell it to install to the library that you are using, rather than 'My DAZ 3D Library' which is the default location. You should not have to move files manually.

    I found another solution.

I create a new "user Library" in another disk and copy all "old" and "new" then use DIM again and now is work!

Is not first time I lost file(s) in that Hard disk (possible bad track)
    - "check disk" report bad track and fixed directory!

Thank you for your patience!

In DIM I use two target folders!

If something goes wrong I check in the other CLEAN folder to see if all files are there because in the BIG library is hard to find what he install!

In the "TEST TARGET" I found the lost files and not in the main "user library"
the TEST TARGET is not on Daz content listed!

I told you, - I copy "manually" data files from DIM install to my user library!
Once all goes good, all files in the TEST TARGET are deleted, so it's stay always clean!

    /data/DAZ 3D/Genesis 2/Male/Genesis2Male.dsf

Might be old, but having recently (Jan 2014) downloaded a new model for Genesis 2 Male (for DS 4.6), I got the above error, too.

However, I fixed it with downloading the Genesis 2 Male Starter Essentials through the DIM, which apparently is updated, again (it takes several minutes to download the updated DIM, and you get a host of many files with option to download, but I only downloaded the above file).
