Daz Cat 8?

The good ole Millennium Cat isn't too bad, but she is getting a bit "long in the whiskers". We've had a Daz Dog 8, how about some love for the cat people out here? laugh

It's a really nice cat, but it doesn't have a long-haired preset that's compatible with the Iray-LAMH catalyzer. sad If Daz was to make a new generation of cat, it would probably have that. Alessandro AM is the only one who knows how to make catalyzer presets AFAIK, and he works for Daz, not HW.

Unless AM makes the cat it won't have a catalyzer preset as he only makes those for his animals last time I checked. I can get non catalyzer fur to work fine in Iray and HW has been pretty good about making LAMH presets for their animals.

Not interested (and have not bought Dog 8); Cat 8 would get friction burns from landing in my cart so quickly. :)

My house is full of them too. But they are entirely absent from DS on my PC, and I'd like to change that. I have the Millennium Cat LE, but had to give up on it as it cannot be distorted into the shape of my Avatar cat Albert. Admittedly he was unusual even by cat standards, but the model was woeful in its inaccuracy.

It would also be nice to see some recognisable breeds (Maine Coon for one, NFC, Siamese, Persian would also be good).

    Regards

    Richard.

  • actually thought you will just be able to have some cat morphs for the daz 8 dog :D

i need to buy the doog soon to use some of those dog kreature mophs. but tigers, leons and other big cats are interesting too

Was hoping Oso3D or someone could do this

the HW3D big dog and housecat actually share the same mesh so not impossible

I have tried sculpting it myself in Zbrush but my attempts have been rather poor as is any sculpting I try

I’ve been totally considering doing a housecat morph for dog 8.

    There are... many challenges.

I'm afraid that for a true cat lover, a cat morph for the dog is likely to be less than satisfactory. The skeletal structures and movements are different enough that a cat connoisseur would know the difference. One of the frustrations with the current Mil Cat 2 is that there are a few minor issues in how the cat bends that a cat fanatic can see the difference. Not to mention it looks okay for a typical shorthair cat, but more exotic breeds could use their own morphs for it.

I'm sure the Hivewire cat is very nice, but I'm not really interested in going outside DAZ for this. I'll wait for it to get it's update.

When it does finally arrive, I'll probably drop $200 or more on the figure and all the add-ons because cats are supporting figures in so many of my renders.

JonnyRay: that’s the biggest thing that’s held me back; the purists wouldn’t be happy and it’s already a chancy idea.

If I wake up and see a cat 8 tomorrow, it will land in my cart so fast that its fur will be all blown back and my coffee will not have had time to brew and I use a Keurig so you know how fast that will be.

Not Cat 8 but I'm pretty happy :) Now to figure out if I can update to 4.11 without losing 4.10
