Scaling Genesis
I noticed when I loaded the M3 shape for Genesis, the figure scale increased to 102.5%. Which made me wonder what 100% represented. I figured I knew how tall Mike 3 was (6’-1”), but I decided to check this. I loaded M3 into Genesis and created a 72”cube (see image – scaled “X” and “Z” for convince) M3 for Genesis appears to be 72” tall. Using this information I used math figure out how tall 100% would be.
72"/102.5% = .70244"/1%
.70244" x 100% = 70.244" (5'-10 1/4")
Using this I created a chart listing heights of all the legacy clones.
Genesis - 100% (5'-10 1/4")
Basic Female - 100% (5'-10 1/4")
Reby Sky - 90.3% (5'-3 1/2")
Stephanie 3 - 91.8% (5'-4 1/2")
Stephanie 4 - 88.3% (5'-2")
Victoria 3 - 100% (5'-10 1/4")
Victoria 4 - 100% (5'-10 1/4")
Victoria 5 - 95.0% (5"-4 3/4")
Victoria 5 SM - 100% (5'-10 1/4")
Aiko 3 - 92.8% (5'-5 1/4")
Aiko 4 - 100% (5'-10 1/4")
Girl 4 - 100% (5'-10 1/4" Scales 100% but because of size of head closer to 72")
Basic Male - 100% (5'-10 1/4")
Freak 3 - 103.0% (6'-0 1/2")
Freak 4 - 120.0% (7'-0 1/2")
David 3 - 100% (5'-10 1/4")
Michael 3 - 102.5% (6'-0")
Michael 4 - 103.1% (6'-0 1/2")
Michael 5 - 103.6% (6'-0 3/4")
Michael 5 SH - 108.6% (6'-4 1/4")
Hiro 3 - 100% (5'-10 1/4" Scales 100% but because of size of head closer to 71")
Hiro 4 - 100% (5'-10 1/4" Scales 100% but because of size of head closer to 71 1/2")
Basic Child - 54.0% (3'-2") (Child dial set to 50%) - 77.0% (4'-6")

I've been a Artist since before we had PC's.a long time.
And I know you worked hard on ya chart.Ya done a good job.
But just so you know.
In Real life a adult human eye is about 15/16 of a inch.
24mm = 0.9448 If you prefer metric they say 24mm
15/16 inch = 0.9375
24mm = 0.9448
Even thou CGI Characters look realist ,there not even close.
Poser and DAZ Characters eyes are closer to 2 inches.twice the size of a real human.
Real humans are 6 head tall.
Poser and DAZ ,DC ,Marvel Characters are 8 heads tall.
The how to draw marvel comics reads
characters heads are 5 eyes wide and 7 eyes tall
body's are 8 heads tall.
Anyways even thou it looks better then real life humans Superman ,Batman ,Poser and DAZ Charaters are 6 foot something in CGI space
but there only 4 foot 8 inches tall in real life.
As far as I can tell the whole world follows these measurements.
or close to it ,image comics maded there dudes 9 heads tall.
Bookmarked this! Thank you! I always struggle with heights.
Um, not quite. Dwarves are. But the average human is 7.5 heads tall. Some may approach 8 others 7.

This is also a neat video on the subject. He got head lengths ranging from 5 1/3 heads (dwarf) to 8.5 (Robert Wadlow, who was 8'11")

Great post :)
Alternatively, 1 unit = 1cm in DS, so you can put a plane on top of the head of the figure, and the y translation figure of the plane will be the height in cm. A bit of an easier method than working out percentages and inches.

Dang ,that 6 was suspose to be a 7.
the average real humans are around 7 heads tall.
boys a bit more girls a bit less.
u get the idea.
I think there is a misunderstanding; the percentage is what is set when the dial for a certain clone morph (V4, M3, etc.) is set to 1 (100%). I wanted to know what 100% represented. To do that I needed a known percentage and a known height, I believe that DAZ studio uses real world dimensions; in other word everything’s full scale. I think I’m right in assuming that the M3 clone is 72” tall, with this I could figure out what the height is for 1 percentage point and multiply that with a given percentage to get the height of a chosen figure. Now I did this in inches, but I could have done this just as easily in metric.
Below is a chart with various heights and the percentage they represent:
((Size of figure desired in inches / 70.25) x 100 = percent to use)
8'-0" = 136.7%
7'-0" = 119.6%
6'-6" = 111.0%
6'-3" = 106.8%
6'-0" = 102.5%
5'-10" = 100% - Genesis Base Figure
5'-8" = 96.8%
5'-6" = 94.0%
5'-4" = 94.0%
5'-2" = 88.3%
5'-0" = 85.4%
4'-10" = 82.6%
4'-8" = 79.7%
4'-6" = 77.0%
4'-4" = 74.0%
4'-2" = 71.2%
4'-0" = 68.3%
3'-10" = 65.5%
3'-8" = 62.6%
3'-6" = 59.8%
3'-4" = 56.9%
3'-2" = 54.0%
3'-0" = 51.5%
The other way of looking at it is that they're whatever size we make them!
