Upgrade Question?

edited December 1969 in Daz Studio Discussion

I have DAZ4 can I upgrade to 4.6 without having to backup all my files or lose them? Or can I just install the new version and keep my library intact or what?

If I remember correctly. the update will remove the old version of the software. You will not lose your files. The new version of the program will see your files and make them available in your library

Ah, that will certainly make it easier! Thank you.

It wouldn't hurt to always make a backup of your content and content mappings just in case something unexpected happens.

Make sure you install "Default Lights and Shaders" and "Genesis Starter Essentials", as those used to be part of the DS4.0 installer and will be removed. Your other content will be fine.

Ah, I see! Thanks for the heads up. Is it possible to upgrade from my 4.0 copy to the 4.6 free copy?

Yes, if you haven't already done so, go to the store and ''Buy'' DS again.

Go to My Account > Product Library, enter DAZ Studio in the search box, select DAZ Studio 4.6 Pro, and you will see 'Default lights and shaders for DAZ Studio' listed as the first item (see below)
