Render option: Enable multi threading is missing

Hi, I just bought Carrara 8.5 Pro and I got the traning course by PhilW. According to one of the lessons, there should be a checkbox under the miscellanious options for rendering to enable multi thread rendering. But I have no such thing. There is only one for network rendering.

I'm working with Windows 7 and I got a core i7 computer.

I have Carrara 8.5 Pro with an Intel i7 930.

When I render, I have 8 small square, that is the multi-thread from your cpu core working.

Can you tell me the video where he talks about it?

The training is set with Carrara 8 and the final chapter explains the 8.5 update.

I found the video he talk about, Multi-Render option was available in version 8.0 but no in version 8.5.

I have the version 8.1.1 Pro build 12 (64bit) still installed, and the option that he talk in the rendering section is not present.

When they updated the version 8.0 to 8.1.1 they removed the Multi Threading in the miscellaneous option.

The video by PhilW are base on version 8.0 so naturally you won't see the option, but do not worry, Carrara will use all the thread available to render.

Even if the video are based to version 8, what PhilW show in the video out weight the small differences between version.

Thank you both. The video was 0503 Render options part 2. He talks about it after about 1 minute.

I do hope that Carrara really is using all processors, as I do only get one box, but Task Manager shows some spikes for the odd processors, I guess those are the fysical ones.

Have you made sure that you have the the "Use Multiprocessors" box checked?

    This is located under File>Preferences>General.

Sounds like they moved it. From what the OP said, it sounds as if the option was in the Render room from version 8.1 and earlier, and in version 8.5 it was moved to the Preferences menu.

Version 8.0 the option is in the Render room.

Version 8.1 + the option is Under the preference settings.
