Not all materials are being applied to custom prop from saved preset.

edited December 1969 in Daz Studio Discussion

I've saved a prop I made up of multiple parts as an .obj. I also saved the materials i applied to the obj. as a preset. However, when i reload the obj and try to apply the material only about 2 surfaces of the prop are being skinned. I've done this many times before with out a hitch. There are probably 100+ surfaces in the prop. When I save the material file I see all the surfaces in the save dialogue window checked. What could be the problem?

How are the Materials Assigned? Did you UV map the item or is each section applied to then saved?

The items were created in hexagon and are already uv mapped. I assembled the scene with various .obj i created. I then applied the materials as i want on all the surfaces. I save the scene as an obj. ((version 1) we'll call it) and then save the materials as a preset. This created an single obj prop that I was able to load instances of and apply the saved preset at will. I then added another item to obj. (version 1), materialed it, and then saved the updated scene as an obj ( version 1.1 we'll call it) and saved an updated material preset for the updated object. When I loaded obj 1.1 this time, and tried to apply the associated material preset, it would only apply to a couple of surfaces. I'm baffled. I can load version 1 and apply the preset for that version. Baffled and frustrated. Hopeful that made sense.

When you combined two objects into one you created a NEW MESH. That Mesh is not UV Mapped, the separate parts might be but the third new object is not.

So it sounds like I need to combine the objects, save it as the new obj., reload it, and then apply the materials and save the new material preset.
