When I was a legal secretary in Houston, we took turns working Saturday mornings. It was a large office with many secretaries. By the time it was my turn I had forgotten how to work the switchboard and ended up cutting off the senior partner. I never had Saturday again.

I'm glad you were legal. Did you write on legal pads? :)

Morning. Quiet after the storm here, innocent sunbeams and the wind is pretending it was a soft summer breeze all along :)

..while it's not been a lot of fun where I live, to go back to where there is "real winter" would be a lot more painful.

We just went though seven days of record low temperatures with the coldest being13° (24° below normal) on Sunday morning . It is finally warming up and will be back to more normal to slightly above normal temps (upper 40s to near 50°) for this area by the weekend.

Will feel like spring in comparison.

Of course in one of the places I lived in Wisconsin (Stevens Point) it is currently -2 and that is the daytime temperature. In my old Hometown of Milwaukee it is 9° with more snow and an expected low of -2°.

No, sorry. Too bad Whopper's imagination doesn't show him in Milwaukee. The closest we see is Whopper dancing above in the tuxedo and top hat.

not a monster, Jaderail has a monster, mine just a well trained puddytat

Well, that's monster enough I think. An i5 and a video card with 4Gigs of RAM, that's sweet. I don't have the money to upgrade, but I might have to. I'm still running Windows XP Pro 32 bit on my Core 2 Duo. I could do 64 bit, but Diane's computer is an older 32 bit hp. It has 2 Gig of RAM and cannot take any more. I was going to put more, but it can't take more. It's disappointing, and lately she's been complaining that it is slowing down. It could be, or it could be that she's used to her 64 bit computer at work. She just got it a couple of months ago. She doesn't think so, but I know that's how it happens. She spends way more time at work than at her personal computer. I did notice that weather.com seems to take longer to load lately. That is what she was basing her complaint on. But that's not the computer, it's taking longer to load on mine as well. But I also have a Gigabit ethernet on board, she only has a 10/100 card. It all adds up.

So anyway, I'm wondering if I should get a core i series box and give her this one. Otherwise she'll be offline when they stop support. The thing is, I really can't afford to do that right now.

It's 29F here right now. We had a high of 33F and expect a low of 19F tonight. Not looking forward to Sunday...at least 5 inches of snow coming our way, according to last night's forecast. As it gets closer the forecast will be more fine-tuned. This is New England. Five days out is more guess than science. It can change one day out.

...I remember when 4MB seemed like more than anyone would ever need.

Now I'm considering doubling my system's memory to the maximum of 24GB (and that's old school with the current crop of 32G motherboards out there) because my render files are topping out at 10G.

And when you get more, the render files will get appropriately bigger. I think it will use as much as you throw at it, no matter how much that is.

just to give you an idea as to how old my computer is: it supports a 64 bit AMD socket 939 processor but the motherboard only supports a maximum of 4 GB. Just saying.

...this one, correct? This span replaced the original one (built in 1908) and opened in 2002.

Below is an old picture of the original span as I remember it. The bridge used to cary the main line for the old North Shore Interurban which ran between Milwaukee and Chicago. The streamlined train is an "Electroliner".

Milwaukee has several large viaducts.that cross the old Menominee industrial Valley

...yeah, I'll end up rendering in even larger sizes with more reflectivity and twice the number of the characters I had my last RRRR submission.

In the old Space Opera RPG, your system would control a planet sized death star.
