A question about portability
Hi! I'd like to ask one or two questions. If they are silly questions, please forgive me :D
I have an installation of DAZ on my Windows PC, where i have all my runtime and use the program to create my scenes.
On the other hand, i have an installation of DAZ on my Mac, a bare installation with nothing but the essentials.
The thing is, the PC is much less powerful, with lower processor and 1/4 the memory of the Mac, so renders are loooooooooooooong. The question is two-folded:
- It is possible to, having finished a scene in the PC, to somehow prepare a "bundle" that would allow the Mac to render it, that is, without having to install all the resources in the Mac?
- It is possible to "port" the installation i have on the PC to the Mac, without having to pass thru the process of reinstalling all the resources one by one?
Thank you very much in advance.

You would need to copy over the library folder from your PC to the Mac.
Either 'My Library' if you installed yourself, or 'My DAZ 3D Library' if you used the DIM. Once copied to the Mac, you would need to tell the Mac copy of DS where the content is located, in Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager, and enter the new location on the Mac as BOTH Poser Formats and DAZ Studio Formats in the same way as it is done on the PC version.
See if that works for you.
Thanks for answering!!
I don't get this part --> "and enter the new location on the Mac as BOTH Poser Formats and DAZ Studio Formats in the same way as it is done on the PC version"
I've installed the PC version a long time ago, don't remember what this refers to?
And all the resources will work in the MAC this way? Awesome!
Oh! sorry, another question: must i overwrite the contents of the "my library" in the installation of the mac, or merge them? The installation on the mac is latest version, the one on the pc is a step below, doesn't have genesis 2.
It might be easier to just copy over the PC library, then reinstall the items that you already had on the Mac if there are very few of them.
Merging folders can be problematic on the Mac, and you need to make sure that they will merge, and not overwrite. There is also the problem of Metadata to make the Smart Content work, and other things like Products and Categories. It may be better to wait for a Mac user to help you with the move.
If you look in the Content Directory Manager in Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager, you will see how it is entered in the PC version. You must also have an entry there on the Mac version, or you wouldn't be able to see any content. Just make sure that the Mac version is pointing to the correct folder, whichever one you finish up using.

I dont care about the items in the mac, it is a bare installation, just the stuff DAZ gives you.
But ok, i'll wait.
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
