Strixowl- thanks for posting! I was just about to start this commercial thread back up. Sickleyield and I updated this product for Iray with new features including emisive surfaces, smaller figure-scaled rays, and fractals. Here is the store page with link to instructional video: Expanded Godrays Iray

Expanded Godrays Iray brings you fast, beautiful sun and sky presets for Iray. The set comes with a sun flare, planets, and the all-new fractal presets for your spatial anomalies and extra-dimensional horrors. A spotlight with cone-shaped rays is also included for windows or different angled shots. Because the visible rays are created with opacity maps instead of volume atmosphere, they render very quickly and add little delay to your scenes - systems that can't handle full atmosphere objects can handle these just fine!

dkgoose! Thanks so much for the inspiration to make this new product for Iray. I had to let you know that you where definitely a key catalyst in its creation.

Sorry to revive a dead thread, any plans for an Iray version?

:) no problem I loved the first one just got off work and seen it was released so it's going in my cart, excited to see it too ;) So thank you :)

  • I just want to say thanks, guys, for working on this.  I loved being able to easily use this in 3Delight.  In fact, it was one of the easier things I found to use with 3Delight.  I'm so glad that you updated for Iray because I haven't really had much luck doing the rays on my own.  It is sitting in my cart now.  I'm just trying to figure out if I really want the 75% off special to buy with it or not.  The updated Godrays for Iray will be a definite buy by the end of the day, though!!!!

I'm debating this myself. I've found it INCREDIBLY hard to generate good godrays with straight SSS fogs.
  • Well, I'm downloading it now.  In the end, I decided against the geisha/ninja outfit even if it was 75% off.  I would probably never use it and I'd rather save my money for other things.  I'll be trying the Godrays out soon.  I watched Sickleyield's video.  I love her videos showcasing the her products and how to use them.  I could listen to her all day while playing around with all of her products I own.  I really hope I can get anything even close to what she managed in the video.  As soon as the pinup, er male portrait, I'm currently rendering is finished, I'll be playing around with the Godrays to see what I can do.

Been playing with all the features for hours. Here a simple render using one of the spots included.

Thanks for posting. I like this minimalist composition and the use of bloom is a nice touch. We included the bloom presets as an added effect to really make Godray renders glow, like they should.

It looks like the video has been removed from Youtube. You might want to ask @Marshian about it.

I'm sorry about this, I don't know what happened to the YouTube video (I don't remember taking it down, and they didn't send a notice as to why they would have deleted it, if it was them). I also can no longer open the wlmp file from four years ago, so I re-edited it in Camtasia. It's a little shorter now because I took out some dead air during viewport renders (I had a weaker graphics card in 2017). Sadly there was limited that I could do about the crappy audio in post, but at least it's a little better than it was originally. Here's the reupload:
