    The problem is only for the male converter. I wanted to convert the genesis 3 cowboy suit. I ran the script, it looked like it was working, but when I went to see it it hadn't been added to the genesis 8 folder. So I took the cowboy suit back to try to convert it again and they went back inside the converter window all the elements as if they had not converted them before (usually if an element has already been converted it tells you). At that point, however, the script no longer started in any of the available procedures. In essence, the male script, for reasons I don't understand, no longer converts.

    I want to see if that is happening with everything.  Can you post a log trying to convert an item on the C drive?  A different (not cowboy suit) on E drive?

    I did several tests, I converted from C to E, from E to C, from C to C, from E to E. At the end I uninstalled the male converter and I reinstalled it and of course it reinstalled in the disk E. I tried again to convert from disk E to disk E and it gives me the same error. I no longer know what attempts to make

    I don't think it is that as the female version is working (FYI, I use 4.12.1.117).

    I looked at all of your logs.  They all show the scene id being incorrect.  If you load one of those G3 items in a scene (not on a figure), and do Scene Identification, is the Preferred base G8M?  That is what the script is seeing.

    With the female it works very well, and before it also worked well with the mashio. I didn't understand what the mistake is.

    I don't know what has changed.  But I need to understand if the item has changed or the script is pulling something incorrectly.  If you load one of those G3 items in a scene (not on a figure), and do Scene Identification, is the Preferred base G8M?  That is what the script is seeing.

    I put on stage G8M. I select it, I open the script, I select the destination folder G8M and I create the directory by selecting the folder with the elements that interest me in G3M. it is what I also do to convert the female's clothes. How do you see in the video. I like it because it is very simple and has never given me problems.

    I am trying to help.  It would help if you just test once: If you load one of those G3 items in a scene (not on a figure), and do Scene Identification, is the Preferred base G8M?  That is what the script is seeing.  If that happens to you, the problem is NOT with the script and it means you can look somewhere else for what changed recently.

    Well I eventually came to the conclusion that the morphs installed through DAZ Connect didn't work with this product, but the rest did. I uninstalled them all and reinstalled them all through the DAZ Install Manager, and then the character converter successfully converted the characters. And this isn't the first product I've had go from not working to working just because of DAZ Connect. At this point, I'm just going to pretend DAZ Connect doesn't exist.

    Weird, I followed the coding conventions so it would work properly with Daz Connect.  However, I do not Daz Connect so it is not the most tested code smiley

    I think you should have informed that the converted pupil/iris mesh is distorted.

    I am having this same problem, except they will open dialed in to whatever character I last converted.

    I am definitely open about all issues with the character converters, as I would rather people not buy the product(s) than be dissatisfied.

    From the first post of this thread: "The Character Converter script cannot properly convert all Genesis 3 characters.  Characters with extreme morphs may have problems, especially around the eyes."

    And then the product readme:

    "The Character Converter script cannot properly convert all Genesis 3 Male characters. Characters with extreme morphs may have problems, especially around the eyes. Multi-part characters (e.g., a character that loads a figure and separate horns) cannot be converted. Material presets are also not converted. Default materials copied to your new Genesis 8 characters may have ugly seams and/or misaligned features due to the different UV layout. Items without metadata can be converted but will not show up in Smart Content. They may also need to be converted using a Force Convert Item(s) button."

    I never heard back from @thistledownsname.  I do not have Taurette.  My guess is that converting Taurette creates a generically named morph that is pulled in.  I would check what morphs were created when converting Taurette and try deleting them ALL first (to see if it is truly something that happened because of using the character converter) and then moving them back in one-by-one to find the problem morph.

    I also think that I may have figured it out. After the conversion process, I was just closing the script without saving.

    Now after clicking on the save button after conversion, they all seem to load with the correct morphs.

    The only problem I have now is what some folks are experiencing with the eyes being distorted in shape with some characters.

    Were you using the Custom Scene Character conversion script?  If so, yes, you need to save the character.  The MORPHS have been saved, but the custom character will not be without you saving it explicitly.

  • So I recently had a hard drive crash, and because I never learn, I did not back up recently. I lost a lot of files, including the perfectly converted characters I had already made. Before the crash Character Converter worked perfectly. Now it doesn't. Instead this happens (with all characters, not just VYK Boopsie, which this is). Any ideas why?

    Ok, let's see if I can help.  First, let's start from the beginning.  

    1. Please delete (or rename the morphs folder to old morphs or something) the old converted morphs in data/DAZ 3D/Genesis 8/Female/Morphs under the FIRST directory for Daz Studio Formats specified in the Content Directory Manager (F2->"Content" tab->"Content Directory Manager..." button).  
    2. Delete the clones in C:/Users/[USERNAME]/AppData/Roaming/DAZ 3D/Studio4/CharacterConverterMorphs
    3. Restart DAZ
    4. start the "Character Converter G3F to G8F" script
    5. Click Reset Options to reset them to their defaults. I would uncheck the Convert Corrective Morphs for now to make the conversion faster
    6. Select (HIGHLIGHT) and check ONE character in the list
    7. Click Convert Item and wait
    8. If the character is wrong, please post the Daz Log (not the log in the script which has less detail)

    Are you using the main script or the custom script?  Which method?  If the 2020 method, let's delete the clone.  To be sure, you could follow the same procedure that I want @nikekebab to follow:

  • I have just very happily used the script on the 4 G3F characters I wanted to convert to G8F. They were all FWSA characters, and the script recognised none of the FWSA character .duf files as valid ones. So I saved the character as a custom character preset duf file, and it worked perfectly. Thanks, very useful.
