Crystal Matrix: Modular Architecture {Commercial}

Crystal Matrix: Modular Architecture was released today. I set out to create a build-it-yourself product like Minecraft but with much more realism. I built several presets you can use as-is or you customize them for your own needs. The structures are based on instancing you you can move or scale any crystal. It's easy to change materials just by applying a preset to the parent crystal. I hope you have fun with this, I sure did.

Let me know if you have any questions. If you feel inspired I'd like to see some renders.

    Inspired by Hasbro's "Heroscape" game?

    Oh I'm not aware of that game, very interesting. I'll check out out. Wow! Yes it's very much like that. So cool to see. Thanks Ostadan

    Now I can finally make my Fortress of Fortitude!

    That's right! You can modify the one I built or create your own. Let me know if you have any questions about how to work with the instances or groups of instances.

    I've already got ideas, but both serious and silly, for this product.

    Marshian, do you have a video tutorial on how to create a scene from scratch using this asset?

    Hi flomocha. I don't have a video but am happy to assist here. This set is like working with real-world building blocks but in the digital world, you have some tools to make it easier. Load a crystal, make 10 or so instances, copy the crystal's location, unparent the instances, and paste them to the main crystal's location. This will put all of the crystals in one spot and from there you can use the Align pane to stack them. I'd start by creating walls.

    Here is more about the Align options in DS: http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/artzone/pub/software/align_ace/aa_aligning

    Let me know if you have more questions.
