Shadows In Bryce

I thought I had posted this question before but never got answer do I figure I forgot to hit some button of something.
In Bryce 7 Pro, on a Mac, 10.6.8, I want to create shadows from an invisible object. Is this possible? How?

I'm not sure this is possible directly within Bryce - at least I haven't found a way. Maybe someone else might come up with a clever way of doing it.
However, you could try using Byrce's object mask and then create the effect with this in a a paint program or do it all in a paint program, by a couple of renders, one without the object and it's shadows and one with, and mask out the object .
Another option would be to create the shadow in a paint program and apply it to a 2D plane of appopriate size.
