Another suggestion regarding your next set: A creepy witch hut (exterior and interior) :)

  • @wizard1200: That is also a good idea along with the Tomb idea, although a witch hut may work better as a separate product that can be used inside the forest as an option, but who knows what I'll come up with!!!

@Saluki: Hey, I`ve contacted support myself to see why some customers seem to be missing that .dsf file that is needed for the terrain shader to work properly, I don't know why some people seem to not have it in their data folder, when I hear back something I will let you know, but of course that may be early next week as the weekend is here, sorry for the inconvenience!

Very much appreciated! I am still double-checking here to see if I've overlooked something.

  • @ Saluki: I've heard back from the Daz team and they tell me an update is coming soon via Install Manager that will correct the Terrain Shader issue, it should soon be a default Iray shader like the Uber Iray shader and other MDL shaders, I'll get back to you and anyone here who is having the same problem soon with more info, cheers guys!

  • I'm getting the same issue with missing "overlay skin shader.dsf" file.  I've tried uninstalling then reinstalling the content without any luck.

  • @ serin20: Hey, sorry for the delay, I forgot to check this thread yesterday!  The guys at Daz realize the error and have fixed it on their end now, the missing "terrain shader" is now part of the default resources which you can download using "Install Manager", you can find the shader next to the Iray Uber shader in the shader presets list.  I am now updating my files as we speak to work with the Daz shader update, I will submit the update later today, then it will have to be tested of course by QA then will be released to you guys as a Forbidden Forest update.

I will keep everyone who purchased the F.F. updated here as to when the update will be released, stay tuned!

There has been an update to the Forbidden Forest that is available NOW via Install Manager for all those who've had an issue with the "missing skin / layer shader message" that appears when loading an Iray scene.  First go to your Install Manager and download BOTH the Forbidden Forest update and the Default Resources for Daz Studio 4.9+ and you should not receive that error message anymore!  Sorry for any inconvenience this has caused anybody here, this problem will not be an issue with any other products from myself or other P.A.s as this Layer Shader is now officially part of the Daz Shader Resources, let me know if you have any issues or questions, cheers!

Incredibly late to the "parade" here.  I purchased the bundle last year, but hadn't had time to look at it.  At that point, it was just so cool looking that I had to get it.  I love the product and lost sleep last night, playing with it.  The snapdragon and trees are awesome!!  LIke others, I found the available morphs to be so great that I wish there were more.  For me, they are far more than a prop, but just shy of a creature/character.

I do hope the product sold well!

  • @gitika1: Hi, thanks for the comment, I can't tell you how happy I am to hear you lost sleep playing with the Forbidden Forest last night, I hope you made up for the lost sleep somehow wink.  It sold fairly well considering it was released mid-summer last year, however I did work on it for about a year and a half on and off because I had NO idea how to make, plants, trees, large landscapes etc. at the time, now I could make it in under a month if I make a Forbidden Forest part II smiley, I am thinking about it actually.  If I make a follow up product I would make the Evil trees be able to "GRASP" Genesis figures and probably just focus on a larger dark forest and omit the graveyard scene, who knows, I'm open to suggestions???

You could hardly go wrong further developing those snapdragons! I'll make more constructive comments when I get home and can look at the set in DAZ Studio again.  Loved the set and got some good use out of it - THANKS Wicked Creations!

@Gogger: Awesome comment, glad to know you are thinking about how to improve the next iteration of the Forbidden Forest wink.  I could further develop the Snap Dragons or start from scratch who knows, I am most excited about what is possible with the tress though as I have learned a LOT about rigging since the Forbidden Forest last summer, and I don't think a fully rigged Evil tree has been released for Daz/Poser since https://www.daz3d.com/scraac, I bought him years ago and had lot's of fun with him but we need something more modern now in the store and more sinister devil.  BTW, you're welcome Gogger!

I would prefer modular products. Maybe you cooperate with HowieFarkes and make it as an Ultra Scenery Addon?
And yes, a dark/cursed forrest would be nice wink

  • @gerster: Modular parts are a good idea, that's why I try to break out individual parts as much as possible so people can load each prop into their own customized scenes.  The Ultra Scenery Addon is a cool idea but I believe it has a stream in the centre if I am not mistaken so it may not fit the theme like an eerie brick path does, but if Howie is interested, who knows what we could accomplish wink.

Ultra Scenery has only a stream or a way when it's configured/painted in the map :)

  • @gerster: Thanks for the info., I seriously should consider buying Ultra Scenery, Howie is the master here of forestry creation laugh.

Fully rigged trees and snap dragons would be amazing!  The ability to grasp/grab!yes I was literally checking out the extent of the tree morphs.  The goal was was to have them tiptoing on their roots behind a forest traveller.  Also, if I remember correctly, the branch morphs only moved one direction from their starting position.  The ability for either direction would be nice.  Expanded expressions, too!  Either way, I was sitting at my computer trying to figure out what lesson I could use the trees in and animate them bobbing up and down, and swaying back and forth.  I suspect my students would absolutely love it.

  • @gitika1: I am excited about making a sequel to the Forbidden Forest now that I know there is some interest and you as well as others here have mentioned what changes you would like!  I never made the Evil Trees with the intent of "tiptoing" at all but now that you mention it I will keep that in mind when I make new trees wink.  I still have a couple more projects to finish before I would make the next Forest so I couldn't really give an accurate timeline for completion but I want to start ASAP for sure.  That's so cool that you are a teacher, I would love to know that my creations one day could be used in lessons for children, later!

Oh, if you make them able to walk on their roots, is there a chance you could add some crumbling clods of earth clinging to or dropping from said roots? That could make a scene much more ominous (and be something we could add to raising skeletons/unearthed zombies).

  • @Uthgard: That sounds like a cool idea about the chunks of earth falling from the roots, who knows what I will incorporate next, great ideas all around guys, thanks!

Love your forest idea. Great work!

  • @acharyapolina: Thanks for the compliment smiley.
