I want to see example transfers of Gen3 morphs on Genesis 1, but haven't found any with my search

Can anyone show me pictures so I can see how they look

    Genesis + V3 Clone + V3 Morphs
Anything else you’d like to see?

more like, I wanted to see the original V3 morph, next to the Genesis 1 version

I just wanted to see if it was worth getting the Gen3 models to use their morphs on Genesis 1 (so I can have random background characters without bothering morphing them myself)

If that's the goal, you might want to have a look at the Genesis character randomizer.

would be nice...if there was 1

    thanks for the picture

while they look nearly the same...the original still looks better, or at least, it has details that the Genesis 1 doesn't have (the stomach line-thingy is 1 detail I can see that's really different)

Yeah...just FEMALE, and they up and forgot the male counter-part. I have no reason to support a content market when they forget about the male counter-parts

Because of TOS Vicky3 is wearing (hard to see) one-piece bathing suit. It hides the details. Genesis is the one in the bikini.

Oh...thought V3 was in the bikini since you said V3 was on the right (you know...my right)

maybe when I have the money and get all the Gen1 & Gen2 morphs caught up, I'll get them, I think my Zbrush user on the team can do some small things to make the morph better

    thanks for the picture

The M4 Randomizer probably didn't do well. Until M6, male sales were low.

Another problem that keeps coming up is the vendor refuses to clearly state which versions of Poser this will work on. Python scripting changed between P7/original Pro version and P8. There were further changes between P8/Pro 2010 and the last two versions.

The big question I have is: Will V3 original characters load onto the V3 Genesis clone? I have dozens of characters for Gen 3 figures that I don't want to part with. Will they load onto the Genesis counterparts for Freak, Stephanie, Aiko, etc?

No. The gen 3 characters have a different polygon count. You need a program called "generation x" aka GenX to project the gen 3 morphs onto genesis.

There are several threads on transferring morphs without GenX. Kattey has them listed in her sig line.

Any morph you want to transfer requires you to have the Iconic shape for Genesis. As shown above even with GenX, there is a considerable difference in poly count between V3 and Genesis. Many details created by the higher polycount in V3 are lost in the transfer. Both GenX and even the CCT's that come with DS cannot overcome this.

I've done several transfers but in the end, all I've ever been able to say is "close but no cigar".

Good point. A lot of that depends on how smart the transfer is. There are edge preserving transforms. I know the projection transfer in DAZ studio itself is bandwidth limiting and destroys a ton of detail, which is why I didn't mention the export/convert approach. I was hoping that GenX was a bit smarter.

Hmm. I'm going to have to revisit some old code that computes residual error between two surfaces of different polygon counts. That was for evaluating the quality of subdivision surfaces, but it wouldn't be much of a problem to turn the residual into a displacement map.

In the end GenX does a better job that the CCT's but there's still a loss. It's less obvious in the Iconic shapes and M4/V4. Where I noticed the most was K4. You have to use the K4 autofit clone to transfer a K4 morph to Genesis child. I don't know if the autofit clones have even fewer polys than Genesis or are just less detailed in general but there is an obvious difference. I suppose because it is designed primarily for fitting clothing to the body, they didn't care much about the facial detailing.
