(Fixed!) Can't get this shirt to fit Olympia 6

This one has me stymied now for more than a week. Any help would be appreciated.

First Frustration: No matter what I do, it won't "fit to" Olympia. It leaves her right boob completely naked. Uhhhh, WTF?

Second Frustration: Attempts to put it on a Genesis 1 figure (I was gonna try saving, then refitting it to Olympia) result in a screen-blink but no successful operation and Victoria 5 remains completely naked.

Third Frustration: No, I don't know where the shirt came from; it's in my library and I just want to use it without the fussiness of figuring out its history and DNA. My unhappiness with the poorly named DAZ Studio "Library" continues. Smart Content seems anything but, and the regular library requires too much scrolling and is just generally too difficult to navigate and nearly impossible to find anything quickly.

I get the feeling that I'm trying to shoehorn an incompatible shirt onto an incompatible pair of girls, and I'm losing enthusiasm. But I shall try to forge ahead. Three questions:

1) Does anybody have any idea how I might fix this damned shirt?

2) How can I QUICKLY figure out what characters/figures a shirt (or any piece of clothing or props) is and is not readily compatible with?

3) How can I QUICKLY figure out who made the shirt and what purchase it may have arrived with?

I want to learn how to do this quickly and conveniently for all clothing and props in a given project or scene so that it will be easy to give credit where credit is due if/when I use or post a project in a gallery. There really should be a way for the DS user to generate a list of credits based on the metadata of everything in that scene...

Anyway, thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

There are a couple of ways to see where the shirt came from. If you hover over the thumbnail, a path should appear showing where it is saved in your content collection. This might be the first clue to who made it, since most of the time we PA's try to save our products in folders with our name on it. Not necessarily for older products, but recently it has been in practice. You can also right click on the thumbnail and "Browse to file location", which will open a Window's Explorer window containing the file and others that are part of the same product. Either way, you might get an artist name or at the very least, the name of the product. You can then search the DAZ store either by artist or product name. You could also browse to that shirts Product view, either in the Smart Content pane (right click on the shirt and choose Show In Products) or by going to the Products list in the content library (it is below DAZ Format, Poser Format, but above Categories). Opening the product in Content DB Editor will show the product name and artist, but that is a bit more advanced and I am not really explaining it well enough here.

As for fitting the shirt to Olympia, if the shirt did not have specific Olympia morphs built in, you might want to try adding a smoothing modifier, which should help to match her base shape a bit better. This can be done from the Scene Tab by selecting the shirt, then going to the Scene menu (3 horizontal lines at the corner of the Scene Tab) and choosing Edit:Geometry:Apply Smoothing Modifier (see screen shot, you won't have the blue alphabet icons, but it should be the same otherwise)

I do not know the true product name, or where you get this.
but If you install files by checking the vendor read me, and not change your navy top. duf
(it usually character.duf to load data) location,

    your pic tell me clear,
the item is made for genesis. (and maybe fit to other genesis character by auto generated morph)

So that, I hope to check them.
    1. clear scene. or load new scene.
    2. load genesis figure. (not genesis2, or olympia, or V5,or V6)
3, select genesis, then load the clothing by clicking the navy top.duf

if it fit well without problem, select genesis then apply victoria5 morphs.
    and show me the pic.

usually , auto generated morph work well about such type shirt.
(though when you pozing, if it show you some problem,,)

about this case, you need to customize the sahpe by your self to fit to well vicltoria 5
(use D-form, or use 3d modelor, then export morph to ds, and overwrite the generated morph.)

then,, about olympia 6, if the shirt is made for genesis figure clothing,
you need to use Auto-fit for the clothing. you need Clone genesis morph for genesis2 female.
But,,, usually Auto-fit option must turn up, when you try to fit the clothing for gen2female.(olimpia, Victoria6 etc)

as default genesis2female have genesis1 clone I believe.

    I check more your pic, then the navy top.duf (circled with yerllow line), is actually material files^^;
you can see "material" sign on the navy tops.duf icon.
the file is material preset file which applie the navy lokking as one option for the tops.

there should be file which load the cloghing geometry (or default shirt) eg top.duf
    signed wardloble I believe.

above the location, (in your pic) or same directory.

in contetn library, maybe like that,
DAZ studio format>Your library name>People>genesis>clothing>the vendor or item name of the product>
so that if you show the pic, clear, (where is the duf files location in content library)
it may help other user to find where it came from.

    in your pic, the important directory (clothing or next vendor and item directory name) can not be seen ^^;

From what I can tell, the shirt is from the Boardwalk Outfit for Genesis 2 Females, so it should work just fine with Olympia 6. Slosh's suggestion, using a smoothing modifier, should help with the poke through issue.

You might check the install path, as it appears the outfit is installed under the Genesis directory, when it should be under the Genesis 2 Female directory.

Thank you for this information. I will have to start using your techniques I guess, but I am not happy that DAZ makes this so hard for the DS user. We have thousands of props and items in the market place and a built-in database to manage it all, and yet there is NO credit data or function available?

There's no excuse for this not being a standard function in all 3D authoring software, just like "Help/About" or "File/Save", or "File/Save As".

Thanks for the tip. I tried this process and the shirt fit a little bit better but her right one still is more than half-exposed.

I am trying your instructions and I can't seem to find Navy.duf now. I know it's in there, but the library is so hard to use, I just can't find it at the moment and I don't remember the path. Still trying...

You might check the install path, as it appears the outfit is installed under the Genesis directory, when it should be under the Genesis 2 Female directory.

It is precisely where DIM installed it. I don't move things around once installed with DIM. This is part of my frustration; I can't find anything I need, and I can't find the same item two times in a row because the library is not logically laid out.

And to make matters worse, I'm afraid to change anything for fear of messing up DIM.

    Ah,, sorry,,

I do not have the product so that supposed from the location of pic , these mat files duf are installed.

but I understand it should be Boardwalk Outfit for Genesis 2 Females after see the product page.
and you seems got Boardwalk Textures too.

    http://www.daz3d.com/boardwalk-textures

it need to be fit with genesis2 female, and morphs without many problem I think.
(but why they are installed the location ^^;? if you manually install? )

I have olimpia (but have not used them ), then may try to check them.
because I like this product designe.

if it do not fit well,, I may tell you, how can we modify.

Then,,I found some product and reported product in mantis before.
which not fit well for gen2female basic character morphs ( Victoria6 etc)
around breast, without pozing heavy (even though zero poze, it show breast skin,,)

I understand smooth modifier is good to get more better result,
but if I need to use smoothmodifier for gen2 and main character moprhs
about clothing which made for genesis2female,
if there are poke through , I feel the product need to be up-dated.

(it is my usuall attitude about product and smooth modifier,
smooth modifier is good to reduce problem, or getting more smooth shape.
and I can understand it need about some pozing.
I often use it for last lender , but should not be the Essential tool about these case.

the pozing in pic is so usuall. I believe without smoothing modifier, the clothing need to be fit well.
if Smooth modifier need as default, I hope daz clear show it, in product page. ^^
I may not get those product.

Now, I installed these product by DIM, then, I do not know it was up-dated or not,
but now they seems installed correct path for gen2female.

if you use DIM, then it installed under genesis directory, anyway it something wrong.

you better uninstall once, and up-date by DIM then install again.now it should be located under gen2female directory.

if I find more problem, I may report here,, and If you can not find how to use DIM or
still have problem, I hope to tell you the way. so that, relax and easy ask here,

(though I can not guide, other user must help you,, )

then I know DIM and daz installtation is not so easy, and somtimes feel frastration, for user
DAZ need more and more clear guide,, when offer new install tool ,and hope it should be standard.

but after understand them,, you may not feel so problem about DIM, actually it is useful,,
I hope it is same for you.

then,, if you suceed about install them, lets try using smart content>product (not file)
because as you know, even though we select the genesis2female (or V6 or olimpia)
    we often can not find from smartcontent>file easy. there are many many wardlobe and shirt ^^;

I like to use Smartcontent > producut pane, If I hope to serch the product .

or you can use Contentlibrary product category, to serch product.
    about this case,
Product>B>Borad walk, then R-click one of files (whichever you like)
    show in>smart content>product. Pic1

it can show the product icon in your smart content. pic2

then click the product image, it show all product files with category in smart content.
we can easy select file in the product by clear category. pic3

about this product, I think meta-data have no mistake, so we can use meta-data and smart content power full ^^

then,, when I fit it olimpia, there seems no problem with pozing, (though breast area is not so smooth,
but it is usuall, we can not avoid it, about heavy breast morph I think)

so that you can clear your problem I believe, without tweaking much.
anyway thank you to tell me,,,, I like this product ^^b it seems good choice.

    =========================
Now I have only one problem (or complain) about this clothings . it is shoes.
it do not color weight well about Toes bone X rotation.
and if colored correctly, I think, such poke through do not happen when just bend toe bone.

it is problem about x color weigh only. the most of sole part need not weight for toe bone,
as same as Y color, Z color weight map,, ( though I may not send bug report about it ,,,)

Hi again. I checked my install paths and they appear to be correct. I have not made any changes nor have I uninstalled/reinstalled. I think it's correct. I am reading the rest of your posts now, but wanted to let you know about this first. :-)

Ya,, it seems good, I I feel happy if you can remove frastlation ^^

(then thanks much nightwoulf to correct my miss understanding, I hoped to get them,,
then serched this product for genesis, but I could not find them,, )

now I finish tweaking of both shoes (I am too sensitive such poke through ^^; )

I believe it should be colored such way,, but now I think if vendor plan to keep the sole on the gorund, when bend toe upward,,
so that vendor keep color weight for sole too. ,, but if hope so, I may prefer to apply JCM which work only plus or minus
    to keep sole on ground.

anyway,, I am content with my defomation, so it is OK for me,,go to bed now^^

Okay, I removed the shirt and re-added it. That's all I did. And it seemed to fit pretty well without any further modifications.

Except where it fits under the breasts; there is a little digital aberration there, as you can see in the close-up pic below.

Anyway, I put some flip-flops and a smile on her and as it turns out, she's a pretty good looking gal!

Edit: Oops, it seems that the pics got added in the reverse order of what I expected. Is there an easy way to re-order pictures?
