Daz 4 won't open CR2 but Daz 3 will?
OK, this one is genuinely perplexing.
I've created a new toy (which I hope to sell when the bugs are all worked out) and have come up with a few snags...
PROBLEM #1: The first being that the Figure Setup Tools of DS4 no longer support the type of model that I'm building (grrrrrr!)
However, DS3's Figure Setup Tools worked and I still have access to that so, problem #1 solved.
PROBLEM #2: The built CR2 works fine in DS3 and DS4, loading quickly at about 8-12 seconds, depending upon the machine.
However, when loading the same CR2 in Poser, it take anywhere from 80 seconds to two minutes to load, again depending upon the machine.
At someone's suggestion, once loaded into Poser, I re-saved it as a new CR2, which opens in Poser in about 10 seconds or so and opens equally quickly in DS3.
But, when loaded into DS4, it seems to be loading but, when it's done, there's nothing there.
Now, I could ship this out with separate versions for DS and Poser but I would prefer to solve this issue.
Any suggestions?
Comments
We may have discussed this in one of the previous threads, but my first thought would be a group naming issue.
What are the names of the nodes?
What version of DS4 do you have installed? I am wondering if the location of the new tools is what has thrown you there.
Can DS4 import the OBJ file by itself and if so, how quickly?
I have the latest version installed (Pro, 64bit) and, yes, the individual parts import easily.
As to the groups issue, could you elaborate?
At Richard's suggestion, I went back and checked the "groups" of the composite obj files...
Sure enough, somehow, in creating them, the group name of each of them was set to "default".
After recompiling all of the (many) obj/parts and setting the group designates to individualized names (matching the obj file names), the load times in Poser is approximately 15 seconds and the CR2 now opens in both DS3 and DS4.
Thanks Richard, you were right.
Project now back on track.
