i am looking for a cheap and easy way of getting the geomety of people into bryce...

i play right now a bit with 123catch http://www.123dapp.com/catch

if for for the beginning but it does not really forfill my desires

this app

http://derstandard.at/1385169938144/App-macht-Smartphone-zum-3D-Scanner

seems to be pretty good but it´s not available right now

this 3d scanner must be awesome but it´s expensive and maybe not the right thing for people who are alive

who has got ideas?

i have a good slr camera and use macintosh computer - maybe there is a way?

thanks for ideas

Why not use DAZ Studio, use the models provided with that and then either send them over the included bridge to Bryce, or export them out of DS as OBJ and import them into Bryce.

    On YouTube, type: brekel kinect
I think it's worth keeping an eye on that.

IF it was cheap an easy then people wouldn't be using the programs they are using now, and that includes the high end programs that the professionals use to make the figures that the rest of us use.

How long do you think it takes to put together one character mesh, and how much do you think it has cost them, both in the programs they use and the time cost of their labour.

    dear chohole....

did you check out the links i mentioned?
these things become more efficiant and cheap all the time

i am just looking for something that works better than 123catch

but you are right: pro software and hardware will not be easy to catch up with... but if something like this

    http://derstandard.at/1385169938144/App-macht-Smartphone-zum-3D-Scanner

would be available right now i would be happy

@mail-039 - currently, the necessary hardware is at universities and such. It will take yet a while until we get affordable 3D scanners. Time enough for a cup of tea - or two

By "real people" do you mean actual living people or just humanoid models?

    Cheap as in free?

MakeHuman is free. It generates humanoid mesh models that can be imported into Bryce.

    http://www.makehuman.org/

Cho mentioned DS which has Genesis and Genses 2 Male/Female models.

The Project Human models were another good set of models.

It's been years since I used Make Human. I had a legacy Poser rig for them at one time but I don't know if I still have a copy. The other models do require DS and bridge between DS and Bryce if you want to morph, pose and dress.

to make Genesis LOOK like people you know, use Faceshop by Abalone (in store) or Facegen exporter by Singular inversions

thanks everybody... but i really mean alive people... i do use daz studio anyway... and like going this way too
but i think it must be fun to have the geometric data of real people.... i am photographer and think that there can happen intersting things if i would be able to use dancers for instance.... you know: the charme of a real person!?!

But will the real people want you to portray them in a 3D world? And how much will they charge you for the privilege? There are all sorts of ramifications to using real people.

Basically, if you use real people you need releases, to pay them...probably standard modelling/'extra' actor rates, talk about royalties if being used in on going work, games, etc...in other words much more hassle than it's worth, unless you are a big movie studio/production house (and even then, more often than not, they rely on digital assets).

i see: i am really in the digital world here :O)

as i said: i am a photographer and there are plenty of people who will be more than happy to do the modeljob

i live in berlin... to get the model is not problem - i need software/hardware components to make it

    check this video on youtube

    it´s english

this app would forfill my needs... but it´s not available right now...

so my question is: can you think of anything that´s similar to it?

DAZ sells two character morph and texture sets that are scans of real people. The first is the Anna Maria Delgaddo clone for Victoria 3. This morph and texture has restrictions on its use which are spelled out in the read me.

The second is Reby Sky for V4. This is also based on scans and photographs. The V4 version is morphs and textures. There is also a Reby Sky shape for Genesis.

I'm not sure what you think having access to all the scanning and equipment and even models and photographs is going to accomplish.

Bryce does not have the tools to model a human mesh. Nor can it take the information from a photograph and turn it into a 3D human. That isn't what Bryce was designed to do.

If you want an app that will give you both modelling and landscape capabilities, I would suggest looking at Cararra.

Long, long ago Metatools (later MetaCreations) had 3 apps that they hoped would work together. Bryce, Poser and RayDream. Bryce is sold here at DAZ in it's current incarnation. Poser is now owned by Smith Micro, is up to versions 10/Pro 2014 and RayDream is now Cararra which was just released at version 8.5 in Standard and Pro.
