Light effect input help please - see image attached
HI all!
So I am really enjoying this program as I am new to this. I need advice on this rough work in progress.
How can I create / add a light effect of her shooting a type of beam? Maybe I can recreate that in photoshop but how about the light hitting the hallway from the beam? Is there a light or lights that I can use to sort of create a pulse effect of light on the hallway ending with the figure at the end? Sort of like if the female shot a pulsating ball of energy leaving a pulsating trail along the hallway.
Or do I need to have four spotlights per section of "pulse" lighting each of the four parts of hall at a time? Ceiling, Floor and walls.
Hope that makes sense!
Any and all ideas welcome. This render is still in rough mode and still needs a lot of tweaks etc in photoshop but need to nail the lighting in Daz first.
Thanks!!!!
Robert :)

You can use the UberAreaLight in \Light Presets\omnifreaker\UberAreaLight - it's a surface shader, apply it to cylinders or spheres to get the effect you want. By default the light will shine on other areas but will itself be invisible - you can set it to show in the render, or you could use pwEffect or a custom shader made in Shader Mixer on a Geometry Shell created from your light objects to produce a more interesting pattern.
One idea would be to use point lights (which emit light in a globe rather than diretionally) to get the highlights on the hallway. But to get the actual effect in the hallway of shooting the beam, there isn't a good option that I know of for that right now. Postwork is the most common way that it is done.
There is also this product: Fantasy and Sci-Fi Effects in the DAZ shop.
these are both very good ideas but don't underestimate the need for post production as a tool for your final render. I do a ton of work in Photoshop now that I used to be determined to do in production. What I found is I can get more done quicker using both apps than just the one.
I often use Point lights to set the Proper lighting in the render and then Postwork with Layers to add the effects. Example for your render, Hide all but the front Character and lighting used on it. Render Save as PNG , on the full under image postwork in the effect add the Figure as the Top layer and pop it is in-front of the effect. Now save out as a merged image file.
Here is a old example of render in and Postwork....
Great ideas!!! Thanks all!!! :)
Here is what I came up with....

Thanks again all!
I used Photoshop and Lightroom and Nik color efex pro and Topaz star effects.
