Does DS "remember" skipping files?

Was injecting a head morph to V4 to create a character. The .pz2 file to inject the head morphs referenced a pz2 file for another character I did not have. I "skipped" locating this file since I did not have it. The result of course was not correct.

I obtained the missing product, installed it, and tried again. On subsequent attempts there is no "can't find the file" error messages, but the results of the morph are the same -- wrong. It's as though DS remembers that I don't have this file and skips trying to find it. Is that possible? Is there a way to reset this and start over?

Thanks,

Treebeard

I have it to remember within a single session, but not after shutting down. The error would, obviously, not appear now you have the required product but as you see no difference I'd guess, perhaps, that the morph(s) would require manual application either through an INJection 'pose' or dial-tweaking.

    Hi SimonJM,

Thanks for your reply. You say, "I have it to remember within a single session, but not after shutting down."

    Is that a setting somewhere?

    Thanks,

No, it's just an 'in memory' thing and will be lost if you do a File, New (or Ctrl-N) to clear a scene. It actually may be less than that as I do recall editing a pz2 file to modify file paths/names and re-applying the file and having it work.

Well, I've tried doing a File, New and starting over doesn't work.
I've rebooted my machine and restarted DS and doesn't work, so not a memory thing. DS is keeping track of this somewhere...

I created a separate .pz2 file that all it does is invoke the other .pz2 file, and that doesn't work...

I may have the product - so could check. What product are you (trying to) use?

Brienn Fi for V4, by FKDesign

The face morph is not working for me in DS 4.6. It requires the Aiko 4 base in order to work. I now have that installed.

    Thanks,

Interesting. Seems to be related to some other morphs I had previously applied to V4 and saved as a scene. That is what I was starting with.

When I started from scratch with V4 it worked fine...

So I believe there is no actual problem after all.

    Thanks for helping

No. What I think is happening is that you're trying to add the "not working" morph to the same saved character you were working on before you installed A4. This doesn't work — when you installed A4, the morph channels for A4 were added only to the base V4-with-nothing-else-added that you originally installed. Any already existing V4-based characters that you've saved will not have these morph channels added, you must go back to the original base V4 figure and rebuild it wilth all the other morphs you were using before.

(This is only a problem with Generation 4 figures, Genesis and Genesis2 do have the ability to add newly installed morphs to an existing saved character.)

Thanks SpottedKitty, that makes perfect sense and explains what happened. Good to have an understanding.

    Thanks!
