Is there a way to add bones within DS4.6?

I am really getting frustrated with the bridle reins. There are only two bones making the reigns near impossible to pose in a natural manner. Of course, that's after I spend hours just trying to get the bridle to actual fit DH2's head in pose.

Is there a way I can add new bones to my reins within Daz? I think deformers would be really aggravating, but may be my only option, if not.

You can add bones using the joint editor tool.

Awesome! Is there a tutorial somewhere telling those of us that are not real familiar with all of the fancy tools, just the normal load/render stuff?

I know this won't work for you...because you aren't a modeller...but I would export the horse/rider as an obj, after everything is posed, then export the reins, in rough position. Then import them into Blender and run a cloth simulation on them....then import the posed reins back into DS. It could be done using Casual's scripts...but it really isn't any easier than deformers.

Just creating bones isn't the answer...you need to group the geometry and 'attach' it to the bones, too...then you need to mess with the weight maps to get them to work together smoothly...basically, just like any other manual rigging job.

I'd be half tempted to find an 'easy pose' rope and pose it in place of the actual reins, hiding them, by turning them invisible.

BionicRooster has on in the Rendo free stuff. Ajax has a skipping rope there, too.

Actually, you are probably right. I wish Optitec had a rope. I'd use that. This is just ticking me off, lol.

Yeah, I just ran through the entire catalog of dynamic stuff...the closest is probably the sash from some of medieval stuff.

BR has two easy pose ropes in his gallery at SCG. The thumbs look the same. Which one is the right one? Are they different?

    See ... I'm so frustrated I can't spell ... OPTITEX

There is a handbag he has that may look right if the purse section can blind out, but I doubt it's long enough.

TriAx rigging doesn't need the mesh to be grouped, so that's one big step out of the way.

That is, if the reigns are weight-mapped and not 'traditional' rigging...

As I feared, all o this is way to complicated for me to learn or one little book cover, right now. Will have to learn it another day and go with an alternative.
