Praise for GenX

I was a fairly prolific user of V4 before Genesis came out (I mean, c'mon, we all were) and I have a decent sized library just rotting a hole on my hard-drive. I've been extremely skeptical to grab GenX for some time now, mostly because it's not the cheapest thing in the world and it requires a pay upgrades for newer models. I was also skeptical about adding another step to my character creation pipeline, fearing a lot of complicated steps.

I finally grabbed it and, I have to say, I regret not doing so sooner. If there is anyone sitting on the fence, it's easy to use and is very accurate. A very impressive tool!

I couldn't agree more!! I couldn't believe how versatile it made working with Genesis. I had several custom FBMs i used on V4 most of the time and having the ability to use them with genesis, plus any other Morphs++ from V4 along with any of the genesis morphs, really transformed my workflow for the better. I despised it when GF2 was released and after quite some time finally picked up all the morphs for GF2 to see if I could do something with her, but I keep going back to what works and patiently waiting for GenX2 to arrive so I can add GF2 to my fav Genesis one mix.

I saw the new releases from Slosh today and was kinda ticked off thinking it was a more expensive alternative to what GenX does and it might hinder Dimension3D even completing the next GenX, but after looking at the product , thankfully it isn't and since it doesn't really add to what GenX does already, I am back on track to waiti9ng for the GenX2 arrival!!!

What is the new release you're talking about?

GenX currently does not work with the genesis 2 figures, only genesis 1. Dimension3D has posted that an updated version is in the works with support for Genesis 2 figures. I like the details I see with V6, but not the body shapes, looking forward to adding those details to my V4 custom FBMs in Genesis..

I'm anxiously looking forward to this as well. I can't wait to be able to add 6th generation figure shapes to Genesis. :)

I've been fairly pleased at being able to get specialized morphs into Genesis. Sometimes, like with most A3 characters, I end up having to rescale and reposition the eyes once I apply the morph, but a bit of fiddling is worth it.

What I was most impressed by is things like being able to port over some *extreme* morphs like Sparky's anthropomorphic head morphs with it.

Yeah I've noticed that some characters need some tweaking in the eyeball department.

Simply put, GenX was a godsend, I wish I had bought it earlier, I might have started using genesis earlier. I'm really hoping there's a version coming for G2 figures.

Then do this all over again for the G3 moneygrab. My bet is that it's in development already. Ah planned obsolescence...

Well at least we know that it won't be this month. They've a new G2M character base to ship first.

Don't think that matters since Jayden is based off the the G2male base.

Yes but having a proper morph target will be helpful. I hope it doesn't come down to yet another specialized UV set, but it probably will.

I would imagine that the specs for TJY would have been floating out there in the PA world for a good bit, and D3D's been turning out a lot of other DAZ scripts as of late and should be "in the loop."

Personally, I'd think that the release of the legacy figures would have been one of the last things that DAZ would have wanted released ahead of GX2, so now that they're here, I'm hoping it'll show up soon.

*well, that's my nomination for how to abbreviate the new figure, given that TJ is already taken by Teen Josie. Same initials with a Y chromosome added.

Makes sense. I gather from some of the discussion over in the Legacy shapes thread that GenX2 is probably going to work like GenX in that first you need a legacy shape applied to the base before you can port the specific character morph over to it.

I am hoping for gen3 legacy shapes as well. A sizable number of the morphs I want to keep porting are A3, although at this point there is no real hardship in using them with Genesis 1, being able to use the G2 clothing natively will be welcome down the road..
