Hello peeps, I was wandering what is the best way to COMPLETELY uninstall Daz3d so I can reinstall and better organize all of my content? I now have so much content that im overwhelmed. I get insane when it comes to keeping my pc and all of its contents and softwares organized. My Daz3d software and its content is by far the most unorganized program on my pc. It drives me crazy. What would possibly be the best way to organize everything? (all clothing in one folder, characters, hair, poses, ect...?) Thanks in advance for yalls help.

You can create custom categories and keep all like items together

Software and content are independent in terms of installation. If your current installation of DAZ Studio 4.6 is running fine then I don't think you should uninstall. At any rate, uninstalling and reinstalling Studio isn't going to do anything to the way your content is organized.

The best way to uninstall your content would be determined by how you installed it (DIM, Manual Zips, old Bitrock Installers).

The best way to install your content and manage it on your hard drive is through the DAZ Install Manager.

Like Frank said the best way to manage your content in Studio is to use the categories. Don't move things around on your hard drive because you will screw your content up and it is going to be a pita to fix. Just organize your existing installed content into categories.

I would agree, but this only works if your CMS stays up. Since mine doesn't, I pretty much have to use Content Library for everything. I still don't move stuff around, because...yeah, that'd mess stuff up, so I just live with the crazy directory structures.

Anyway, my experience (against the better advice of DAZ staff) was that I pointed DIM at my existing 'My Library' directory, and let it go to town. There are a bunch of duplicates (.ds* + .duf, or .daz + .duf, etc.) but for the most part it Just Worked.

Now if I wanted to uninstall, I could click one button, then 'Start Queue', and it would uninstall EVERYTHING from DAZ.

If I were to run the old uninstallers one at a time, it would take a...long time.

Anyway, organization definitely should be done at a meta-level, if at all possible. If you're not like me, and your CMS is relatively stable, then categories are TOTALLY the way to go.

Holy crap! This rig has been running for 3.6 years and I have never reinstalled windows. I can see maybe once a year, but........LOL.
I can't imagine the workload I would have to do after a reinstall of loading back all my files and programs.

lol, its a habit for me. I have an external HDD for all my stuff and each time I reinstall I always try to find a better way of organizing. very time consuming but worth it. last time I redid Daz and all content, took me 13 hours. I wont get done with this reorganizing attempt till prolly 3am here time. nother 8 hours. that's how crazy I am lol
