Alright, before you guys (shield) bash me...things that I have already done with google-fu
a) search in sharecg, deviantart, here- shield, captain america shield, downloaded a whole bunch, most have the following issues
i) super complex texture
ii) complex design, metal rims, spikes, extra bumpy thingy (not all are designed with proper surface to be removed)
iii) totally not working
My preferred object is a shield with a simple round texture, so that I can replace one to one with a transparent rune image, example below. The end result is a shiny magic effect but with the curved design of a shield and not just a flat plane.
Thanks for helping if you have seen any.

Thanks for your reply, I tried the last one and that one works out fine. Cook up a real quick tutorial.
Create magic shield
i have that script which is moderately easy to use
it lets you apply a planar UV map to those props found on line that have no UV map or inappropriate UV Maps
Planar-UV https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts4/mcjplanaruv
Box-UV https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts3/mcjboxuv
Spherical-UV https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts4/mcjsphericaluv
Cylindrical https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts4/mcjcylindricaluv
and to generate lathe-type objects like round shields

there's a dozen or two scripts on my site to craft props

if you have some experience writing code
most of what's in this scene was created using

Whoa, thanks for the input. This is definitely one area which I have zero amount of research but seems very interesting.
