Movies as Textures with Opacity
I'm using iClone 5 for a complex composite for my TV series, but the current level of rendering for iClone is not to the level that I'm happy with. So, I'm looking at alternatives and am wondering if Daz Studio can do this feature that iClone can do.
So, what I have in iClone is a flat billboard object set to 1920x1080 size so that it matches an HD video size. Then I map the AVI to the Diffuse texture channel and the Opacity AVI to the Opacity channel. This not only gives me the composited characters that I can place into the 3D scene, but also casts their shadows onto the terrain. Absolutely brilliant to say the least.
But, again, the crappy 3D rendering and totally fake looking tree movements in the wind is just horrible. If I could get this photo-realistically rendered like we see in Daz, then I would be much happier.
So, can Daz studio do diffuse and opacity mapped textures from AVI movies? Or any other video format for that matter?

It cannot. The 3Delight rendering engine only supports static images for texture maps.
Thanks for the response. It's not what I was hoping for, but at least I know now. I wonder if Lightwave can do it. I'll have to look into that next.
