Materials not loading

Hi, I have Daz studio 4.6 (32 bit). I've been trying to texture a t shirt with the basic kids clothes that come installed with the software. Each time it says it cannot locate the texture, even when I manually search for it in it's folder location it still won't apply. The problem has only just occurred as I have had no problem before hand and I haven't moved any folders around. Is there a quick way of setting the default folders or will I need to reinstall?

    Regardless of the answer to the question that I'm about to ask, be sure to check the Help -> Troubleshooting -> Show log file to see what DS is logging about the error. That may point you quickly in the right direction.


    Is this happening at render time or while you're still posing / setting textures?

    If it is render time, it could be the file it is talking about isn't actually the texture file you're creating, but the runtime version that it creates as part of the rendering process. I seem to recall having a similar issue a while back ago when I was working on a texture. The only way I got around it was to rename the source file (which forced DS to run tdlmake again and create a new runtime version).

    I think if you try to apply dsa files of K4 basic wear?

    you can use same name duf material preset file . it shoould be installed with genesis starter essential.
    if you can not find duf mat files, you may need re-install genesis starter essential kit only.

    As for me I have same problem, when I try to apply each dsa script files.
    I do not know, if it merged old contents and new contents,,
    anyway it locate texture files, but those files of the name, are not packaged (I installed by DIM)

    but if use duf, it can apply correct name texture files without problem.

    I'm going to reinstall. I've never come across a piece of software that has infuriated me so much. Anyway thanks for your input guys.

    If you feel you need to, but definitely when needing help on errors, it helps us in the forums to see the last few lines from the log file (and screenshots of the errors when possible).

    I reinstalled and the error is still the same. Here is the log file.

    I said , you only need to re-install genesis starter essential for ds 4.6

    it is contents problem.

    I checked all files which installed as genesis starter essential,
    then, the texture file skid4basicboxer01_DC.jpg are not installed with the product.

    all "_DC" type files seems old contents for ds 4.

    I know, the product was installed with daz studio 4 as basic contents.

    then daz release new ds 4.5 and DIM, changed dsa files to duf about basic contents. (bulit in contents)
    now it is calld as genesis starter essential kits. then installer are separated from daz studio aprication.

    so that some files seems mixed or DIM do not uninstall all files, when up-date basic contents, I think.
    to remove problem, you do not use dsa which serch texture files which you have not installed.
    you need to install "genesis starter essential kits " from your account page, or DIM.

    And if your have saved scene files which call the dsa, and those missing texture,
    you need to apply duf mat files. then overwrite the scene files.

    hope you can remove the problem I know well, you feel frastrated^^;

    you no need to use old dsf files any more.

    I believe you have not un-isntalled built in contents.
    which installed with aprication, but I needed to uninstall them too.
    without it, new and old contents mix up in your ds contents directory.

    Sorry but I only use this software to provide small figures for my Bryce renders. So I'm no expert by any means. I just get fed up with the bugs that Daz seems to have in it's software. I'm still using Bryce 5 because Bryce 7 is so unstable, then you get stupid errors with Daz studio. It really puts you off using the software to be honest. I'll try and give your suggestion a go, so thankyou.

    Ya,,, I had same mix contents problem when daz release new version, many times before ^^;
    then lost many scene.

    so that understand well,, it is not problem of you.

    anyway,,, if you have problem still,, please ask ^^;
    ds is free now,, and contents too.. so that,, even though it work not for us (or for some people)
    i think, anyway grab them ^^;
