Genesis morphs (commission work)
Hi All
I am looking for someone to make a morph for the Daz Genesis Model (presumably in Zbrush) of the attached character and then bring it back to Studio for posing. There will also be a set of other facial & head morphs from the basic one in the image (ears etc.)
I see that there was a similar post made earlier but I am hoping that this one is possible because there are no clothes and the character is simpler.
If anyone is interested I can send you a full brief, but I would need to see evidence that you can do the work, as I have had a couple of artists who said they could do it but then let me down :(
This is a 'real' job not a $10 job. :)
The morphs are for this project only will will not be for resale.
Thanks for looking
Mark

I think the main question is, are you associated with JellyJam Entertainment, Inc. since they appear to hold the copyright on that figure.
Actually this is not easier than the stylized cartoon but still human characters from the other post. The ears, no-nose patch, 'hair' tufts and even the hands and feet would probably need to be geograft add-ons. And the work doesn't stop with the geografts, the shape of the body and face are so different from a human that it would require hundreds of adjustment morphs to fix bending and expression problems.
Yes I am working for them (JellyJam Inc.) as a freelance on this project.
You are free lancing for them. Do you have their permission to outsource? If JellyJam needs this, why don't they as a company just place an advertisement?
Sorry but I find it difficult to believe that the company you are doing work for would allow you to just distribute the mesh as you are proposing.
Thanks Icprncss
Of course they know what I am doing and if you can suggest somewhere better to "place an advertisement?" I would appreciate the info, I just thought here might be a good place to find someone with the required skills.
I am not distributing the mesh I am trying to commission an artist to do some work for us on this project. Why would it be strange to do this?
I work for a graphics house. We do, on occasion, hire free lance artists but any free lancers we hire would not have the authority to turn around and outsource.
How else would a third party create the morphs unless you give them unrestricted access to the mesh?
The artist will be contracted by the client for the work, therefore nullifying your expressed concerns.
Probably the company needs a kind of illustration for a project and our friend is trying to make the artists life easier...i have been in the same situation and if i had the specific morphs i was looking for , in a specific character my life would be much easier..for example,..there are plenty of characters out there but someone commissioned me to make a hedgehog type of a character...i didnt found any morph and i had to hand paint it..the result was good but it could be better if i had that morph...
Below is the illustration to see what i mean...

I can only imagine how many JCMs would be needed to get that to work with the Genesis' weight maps. It would be easier to just rig and pose the original mesh.
Thanks Isikol & ghastly for your feedback
Isikol - the reason for the commission is just about workflow tbh
Ghastly - yes its complex but we are prepared to pay for the artists time. Rigging an posing the original mesh does not give the added Genesis functionality. Thank you for your input.
The body wouldn't be a problem to make the morph for, but it won't bend properly at the hips and shoulders, I can guarantee it. I don't think there would be near enough geometry in the head to create that shape though. There would need to me some geographed parts and some rigidity follow grouped props to do that. What is the time frame you're looking at getting this done by? This job would take a long time to complete.
Thanks again Ghastly
yes i did worry about the geometry on the head with the extrusions but i think thats something we can talk about ways round that problem. the problems with the hips etc. - I am happy to take advice on
haha - like all jobs its asap!!
It wouldst probably take at least a month's work to create a morph like that for Genesis.
The body bends would the least of the difficulties, it would probably require reworking all the facial expressions or possibly build a whole new set.
