Help with Texture Atlas

Hello,

I am trying to understand how Texture Atlas works...

I want to export (let's say, Michael 6) all textured with just skin materials, and be able to upload him into 3DS Max.

More specifically, I want to do the following:

1. Export .obj
2. Export as single mesh (meaning, no material references to eyes, hips, torso, hands, etc.)
3. Export all skin & eye textures using Texture Atlas, into one single texture map
4. Import into 3DS Max

I understand how to do 1 through 4, but it's the export settings that I need help with! I have tried several ways to try and make it work, but it always ends up when I export the figure as one single mesh without material reference names or points and try to add the texture atlas texture onto the figure... it just does not lineup and fit the figure (usually too small & doesn't stretch throughout the whole mesh).

Could someone please help me understand the correct settings and other steps I need to take in order to export the figure correctly, with the texture atlas texture fitting perfectly on the figure when imported into 3DS Max??

Thanks in advance!

You would need to do 1/2 after doing 3, since using Texture Atlas changes the UV Mapping.

Ok, thanks. In addition to your answer, could you give a detailed outline/ basic outline of the steps I should do in order?

Another question. When I export to .obj, there are many options to choose in the export window. Which ones do I need to have checked/unchecked in order to make it work? Also, do I choose 3DS Max preset, or do I do a custom?

(The image attached is just a guide to help you know which options are on the OBJ export window. It does not represent the settings I have done personally)
