DS V4 Basic file will not open on my computer.

Hi Folks.

I use windows 8.

My V4 basic file downloaded from DAZ will not open at all. So I am unable to put it into a runtime manually.
This never happened in Windows XP.
I don't want to use DIM because I have my content on a flash drive and I have had problems with DIM before.

Any idea what I am doing wrong?

    What are you using to unzip? if it's the Windows built-in utility you might want to get something like 7-zip, which includes a tool for checking the integrity of a zip and copes with zips that the Windows 7 built-in tool fails on. I think it most likely that it is a bad download, however, in which case clearing your browser cache and trying again would be the fix.

    I did get 7-zip and installed it.

    But it was only after I ran "compatability " troubleshooting that I was able to open and run the file.
    Apparently in some way Windows 8 is causing problems, but when I chose to let the OS appear as Windows 7 there was no problem.

    I am sure I have made mistakes in describing what happened, but you probably understand this better than I do.
