Someone said there is a weight mapped V4 character.
Is this something special?
Is the V4.2 character not weight mapped???
What is the advantage of weight mapped or not weight mapped?
Is is possible to have a weight mapped version in DAZ Studio 4.6 separate from the none weight mapped version?
Yes I'm a noob.

There are two weight mapped V4's, both free. Weight mapping allows for better, more natural bending than non weight mapped. The standard V4 isn't weight mapped.
One by a team at RDNA http://www.runtimedna.com/WMV4.html and one by Alfaseed (AeonSoul/AerySoul/etc) http://www.renderforever.com/index.html
Yes it's possible to have more than one V4 as long as they don't share the same name (for example I have Victoria 4.2 and Perfect V4.2).
If you're using DS, neither of those weightmapped V4s will work as they use Poser's weightmapping.
Crap, I wasn't even thinking about that. I'm always forgetting DS/Poser weights aren't interchangeable.
So weight mapped V4 is poser only?
Hmmm
OK.

Yes. I think if most people want a weightmapped V4 in DS, they would use the V4 shape in Genesis 1 or Genesis 2.
Runtime DNA still carries the weight-mapped V4 conversion script as a freebie in their store, but like everyone has already pointed out, it's for Poser only. It's a little more complicated to get up and running than Xameva & Meipe's Prefect Fix series, and I didn't like the way the neck bends. They were supposedly going to follow through with other conversions (for M4, etc.), but it's been a couple of years now and nothing else has shown up -- I don't think the project generated enough support from the community to make continuing it worthwhile. On the other hand, if you are using Poser, it's a handy tool to have, and it seemed to work with any commercial or freebie morphs I threw at it. It also came with another script to convert clothing to work with the weight-mapped figure.
