how to mirror a pose for genesis figure .

if you have a particular pose say left hand in certain way and right in certain and body tilted to right.you want to mirror that in another character i.e right like left and body tilted to left.

You need to use Symmetry from the Parameters pane drop down menu (or Shift+Y)

Also use Trunk Nodes = Mirror Y/Z Rotations. You may need to experiment a little to get it just right.

I wrote this tutorial about basic Symmetry, maybe it will help a little.

I have a problem with symmetry when the original pose has limits turned off. When I apply symmetry to the pose, it doesn't seem to turn the limits off and the pose is incorrect. Is there a way to fix that issue?

I would assume that you have to turn Limits Off yourself before any pose that was saved with them off will apply correctly. Make sure you have Limits Off before attempting that sort of symmetry.

I've always worked with Limits On even back in my Poser 4 days, and I'll only buy poses that I know were created with Limits On. It might be tough to make yoga or gymnastic poses, but for me, knowing that an arm, the neck, or the torso isn't doing something it shouldn't far outweighs the limitations.

Hmm... Well I mostly agree with you on this but in REAL life the LIMITS on most of the figures do not match the limits a HUMAN can do. When we reach our limits our joints do not lock, there is some give that the muscle and tendon structure allows beyond what many of the RIG's in 3D allow. I was born Double Jointed and many POSES I could and still can do that are natural and look doable are not possible with limits on in the figures. The drawback is often the figure in use breaks the mesh when it should not. The Genesis and Genesis 2 figures have came far in regards to allowing better real world posing. Not every Figure SHOULD bend certain ways but many IMHO should bend better than they do before causing errors on the mesh or the clothing on the mesh.

And I'm now done going mostly Off Topic in this thread... Carry on.

When i applied the original pose, a dialog popped up asking if I wanted to turn off the limits. I said yes, but did not check the box to always do that, so that I would have the option again the next time. When I applied the symmetry to mirror that pose, I was not given an option to turn off limits, and so the limits were used. The result was that the pose was not properly mirrored.
