I downloaded the latest BETA and when I try to render an existing scene (with DungeonEntrance, Michael HD, Female Genesis), the renderer shows the following message:

Creating shadow map for "Sun"
3Delight message #45 (Severity 2): S2069: the interface of shader 'C:/Users/greyfang/AppData/Roaming/DAZ 3D/Studio4 Public Build/shaders/brickyard/{407f8e5c-3a9b-4708-b5e5-799ff1fe7c1d}/shader_Displacement.sdl' is invalid

The renderer usually "hangs" at 99% for the creation of the shadow map.

So, what does error this actually mean ?

Also, when I do get a render with the Beta, it seems very soft ... almost out of focus - even when I have DoF turned off ... anyone else seeing this too ? Or am I missing some setting ?

Cheers,
AC

Is this the first time you've installed the beta? If so it will be using the default settings, including a shading rate of 1 in Render Settings>Advanced tab - lowering that should improve your render quality.

As for the error, if you go to Edit>Preferences and look at the bottom of the dialogue you will see the current location of the Temp folder - go there and clear it out, then try reloading your scene and rendering again. if that doesn't help, where is your temp folder?

Also check to make sure that the pixel filter setting isn't defaulting to something like Box or Gaussian..

    Thanks for the help !

Shading Rate was set to 0.1 ... but the pixel filter was indeed set to BOX ... I just adjusted it and voilá ... much better ...
I also deleted the content of the TEMP folder ...

Cool stuff (although I do think that my Lightwave Renderer is quite a bit faster ... ;-))

    Cheers,
