Just FWIW, here in Houston the 48 Hour Film Project has run an annual two day short film contest for a decade or so, and in recent years started a second contest for music videos. Filmmakers are paired with local bands, using a pre-recorded song, and have two days to create a five minute music video.

I submitted this animated trailer as part of a preliminary contest to spread the word, and ended up with a free entry to the main contest.

They wanted me to do the contest, saying an animated music video would be great, but I declined. The one minute trailer took me a week or two, so doing a five minute video working with the band (who have to appear in the video) was not feasible. IMHO. I have done the regular contest, where I make all the decisons (for better or worse, but quickly). But this just wasn't gonna happen. So they gave away my free entry with my blessing ...

So if you feel masochistic and the contest is in your area (they do it in many cities, I think), take the plunge.
