Is this already existing content in folders other than the DAZ folders, or new content you want to install?

For new content, I suggest you use DIM (DAZ Install Manager). It will take care of installing the content to where you specify, and also takes care of updates to your content. You can find some information about the DIM here: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/19194/

For existing content, you have to "tell" DAZ 4.6 where to find it in the settings.

There are no existing Content Folders. I did specify all the content that the manager listed by clicking install but what about the 3rd party downloads that I have like my sexy goth outfits and stuff, how do I get them into DAZ using the manager? I used to use Poser and DAZ a very long time ago and I remember having directories in my documents but not any longer. Where are my directories for 4.6 so I can begin placing my content into them. Thanks for your help.

If you used DIM to install all of the free content that comes with DAZ Studio, the default path for the new library folder is:
    C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library

You need to make sure to add that path to BOTH DAZ Studio Formats and Poser Formats in Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager

the DIM (DAZ Install Manager) ONLY installs content which was bought at the DAZ 3D store, and is listed in your Product Library, it cannot be used to install any other content.

Thank you, that is the path I needed. I wasn't able to find it.

Sorry I have correct this path stuff a bit for Daz 4.6 Pro. I had problem when I tried to install the Briana Bundle and it did not work in that default path of /users/ public documents/Daz/ My daz 3d library. I am not sure why exactly and I know what I am doing since I learned a lot on my own when I got the basics down. I think some content that was made mainly for poser; may have to be moved to the poser folder section. This only applies to daz 3d programs that seem broken or won't work. Try placing them in the User/ Documents/Daz/ Content folder. I was tempted to try user/ documents/ Daz/my Library but tried the Daz Content folder first and it worked so this is where it will stay. Thi is just a tip to those who have a lot of Daz/poser content that they got for free or from poser or anywhere else that worked in Daz 3 initially.

You can use any folder, within reason, as long as you tell DS that you are using it. the My DAZ 3D Library folder in Public Documents is the default using the Install Manager, but if you installation of DS predates the Install Manager you will have to add it manually. Similarly the folders in Documents - \DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library is the DS4 default, and \DAZ 3D\Studio 3\Content is the DS 3 default.

I used the DIM, but I've no idea where it put it all. Now I'd love to move it all to my external drive. One of the things I don't like about OS X is that is is very good at hiding files from the user.

Have you tried a search for a folder called 'My DAZ 3D Library', that should turn up the main folder at least.

Inside DS in the Content Library pane (on Windows), I can right click and select 'Browse to Folder Location', is that facility not available on the Mac version?

    EDIT:

Inside DIM, go to the installed tab, select any content item, right click, and 'Show Installed Files' In windows these are clickable links to the library the items were installed to, and even the library folder itself.
