...\Runtime\textures\DAZ\Characters\Genesis2\BaseMale\M5PhillipLimbs01S.jpg, M5PhillipLimbs01B.jpg, M5PhillipLimbsD.jpg, etc. Shouldn't there be a bit more limbs on these maps?

I have 9 Limbs maps in that folder. I suggest you reinstall the G2 Starter file.

I do not mean number of maps, I mean the number of limbs on the map. For example, M5PhillipLimbs01S.jpg contain only two limb parts (arms from shoulder to wrist) while M5PhillipLimbs02S.jpg contains whole range of limb parts. And the assigned by default to base G2M materials look strange rendered by 3delight.

I have the textures you showcase too and the whole character works as it should. Isn't the strange look due to the lack of lighting? I made a screenshot of all default textures I have for limbs. Check if it is the same you have.

It looks like the 01 maps have some 'extra' details, specifically for the arms.

Since each section of the texture file refers to a specifically mapped area on Gen2, there is no need for everything to be in every image. You could, if you wanted actually put each body part on it's own, in a separate image file, as long as the placement in that image follows the template layout.

OK, here's the out-of-the-box G2M DS 3delight render and the shot of material properties. Do you suppose this material setup to be proper?

It looks as if the specular on the hip has been turned up from the default:

To me it looks like wrong maps are used.
OK, I drop it. None wants to see the obvious thing. In the end, please, compare next two files:
    ..\Runtime\textures\DAZ\Characters\MilMan\M5\M5PhillipLimbs01S.jpg (G1 M5 maps set) and
..\Runtime\textures\DAZ\Characters\Genesis2\BaseMale\M5PhillipLimbs01S.jpg (G2M Base Male maps set).
Do you really see no difference? If M5PhillipLimbs01S.jpg is meant to show some different details in specularity of arm surface, why is it used to determine specularity of legs if there is NO legs specularity info in that file??? The M5PhillipTorso01S.jpg is filled with speculare pixels but in M5PhillipLimbs01S.jpg these pixels for legs and palms are wiped out. And somehow this file is used to drive the specularity while it has no info for it. BTW, the same situation is actual for bump maps of base male maps set.

I had something similar recently, but with a G2F (I think) figure. Only spotted it after I had messed about with diffuse and USS settings so I thought it was me at first. Spent ages hopping from toroo to leg and back again in Shader tab trying to see where I had gone wrong, but so far as I could see every single setting that was set in for one MAT zone was set for the other (maps, percentages, colours, etc.)

You saying this has now made me think - I MAY have had all the maps set, but what if one of them, say bump or specular had, in effect, a lacuna for the leg area? You'd 'suddenly' see a demarcation line betwwn the MAT zones and ... something exactly like you are showing and whatI have seen.

As mjc1016 says, you aren't meant to use the map on the legs - if it is being used, and is producing a visible change, that would be a bug. But you said your render was G2m so that's what I showed.

I think you need to re-install, the maps I have look nothing like the one you showed. The first is the one that came with Genesis M5 (white background) the second is G2M (black background). Third is M5's at 20% opacity overlayed G2M's to show G2M's has a little more seam boundaries 'fringe'.

You show the map from M5 for Genesis1 product, yes, this product is OK. But the Base Male for Genesis 2 Male product, that shoud be identical to previous, has in the same named map black lacunas instead of specularity or bump info.
Well, I re-download Genesis 2 Male Starter Essentials this evening and check it again. There might be update to the maps since last time I dowloaded it.

Sorry, I noticed that just after I posted, but you can see in my update that my (now correctly posted) file still doesn't look like yours.

OK, now that's OK. Seems G2M essentials were updated. The tonight download contains correct maps unlike two previous.

I'm just wondering why DAZ discharged former support section with products update info. Problem is solved.
