Textures Multi Conversion

edited December 1969 in The Commons

Just have a quick and curious question. Just wondering, for the sake of throwing this out there, if anyone is working or can work on a texture multi version program meaning ,where ALL versions can be swapped back and worth. IE A Genesis 2 Male onto M4 texture convert or a M5...just as an example.
It's extremely discouraging not being able to use a Genesis 2 m6 texture on a M4 or M5. As to why you may ask I'd want to do this in the first place? Simple, M6 is not it's predecessors. The framing Genesis 2 Male, the chest, breast section is off. It's like they took V6 and turned it into M6 and the chest area is not right. It's off. There are other subtleties I'm not happy with. I think Genesis 2 Male came out too fast and way too soon. JUST MY OPINION! Don't jump me for it.
But I do think there should be some sort of a cross over program where textures could be swapped between "generations". Especially the newer ones to a "lower" one.

I do know many are still utilizing M4 just for some of these very same reasons I've expressed. This is info is coming from Deviant Art of which many 3D artists is on.

Thanks

The map transfer tool should be able to do what you want. The conversion process can be a bit time consuming, but it works great. I have been using some V6 textures on my V5 characters and they look good. The only problem is that you might have to setup the shaders manually on your M5/M4 character since the surface names won't match (There is a script to fix that for Genesis though)

Also, you may want to check out the UV on the M6 texture you want to use. I noticed that some of my V6 characters are still using V5 UV so in that case, there is no need to convert anything.

It's not a one click solution, but it's a good workaround.

Sorry for the late reply. Thank you and appreciate the response. I'll have to find some youtube vids to see how to do this. Always learning something new ;-)
    Thanks again!
