Allocate more RAM to DAZ?

Hi guys! I have 12 GB of very high end RAM and would like to allocate as much as I can to DAZ in order to speed up renders. My CPU maxes out, but DAZ it only running on 3.5 GB. Any way to crank it up to 5 or 6?

More RAM doesn't speed up renders, it just lets you get more into the scene. If you have unused RAM, then DS is getting everything it needs. You could try increasing the bucket size, but I don't think it'll make a significant difference.
If you have 12GBs then I will assume you have a high-end processor already. But if it is more speed you are after try messing with the DAZ Studio settings:
Max Ray Trace Depth: I usually set this one to 1 or 2. (Or 0 if I don't have reflective surfaces in the scene, this one can really help speed wise).
Pixel Samples X and Y: I usually set these to 4 or 3.
Shadow Samples: This one controls shadows, you can set this one to 8 at minimum. (edited for correction, thanks to Richard)
Here's an explanation with images to show what these settings will do for your scene, helps to give you an idea as to how low you can go before your render degrades:

I'm pretty sure Shadow Samples controls ray traced shadows - how many rays are shot from a surface to a light to check for shadowing. It doesn't matter greatly for sharp shadows but if it's too low when using soft shadows you will get noticeable graininess.
Here are two images of the same scene, a pair of cylinders with a tightly focussed spotlight casting ray traced shadows on each - the left light has shadow softness set to 50%. In the first image shadow samples is 2, in the second it's 16.

Damn, you're correct, I went back too look at my notes. When docs speak about max ray trace for shadow maps they are talking about what it does to the maps, not that this setting is exclusive to shadow maps. :red:
Heh, well my pictures may be useful for someone else anyway.
Quick tip for shadow samples...use the lowest setting you can get away with.
