I`ll get sick. Can someone explain me why DAZ has new pathes for the content? IS there any real reason or is it just to annoy customers?
I started with DS 3.1.xx back in 2010 so most of my content is under:
C:\Users\name\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio3\content
some ds4 stuff is under:
C:\Users\name\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library
and the new ds4.6 stuff is under:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library
can anyone mention a real comprehensible and plausible reason what sense this path gibberish has?????
if I want to do a backup of installed content now I have to back up this and that and I I dread even before new installing a backup (ups, sorry, backups) on a new machine.

Those are default paths - you are free to change them. If you are using DIM just click the gear icon to open Preferences, then in the Installation tab click the + button to add a path, and when you are about to install check the Show Details box to get a dropdown list to select the path you want to use - it should be remembered between sessions so you shouldn't need to keep setting it.
well, I have tried this once and the result was that not all was in the right place, means I loaded an item and the textures were not found. So I never tried it again.
Basically, MS decreed that 'data' files needed to go in the user's documents folder...
Content was the DS3 library. My Library was the DS4. I guess this was done in an attempt to be able, by default to keep them separate, so both could be installed at the same time without conflicting with each other.
Then the DIM was finally finished and it, again according to MS guidelines, put its library in the 'public' profile...so it was accessible to all users.

One of the tricks to successfully changing the paths is that unless you actually, physically move everything to the new location, that you will be using, you can't REPLACE anything...just add on to it.
So, let's say you make a new folder on a separate drive and map that path in both the DIM and DS so all new content is installed there, you will only find the new content there, if you use that path as the only one. Now if you were to take all your currently installed content, copy it to that new location and then remove the old paths, everything will be found.

and when I load older scenes I have made I have to search for everything, textures, geometry and all that stuff

ALL content folders that hold DAZ Studio content should be mapped as both DAZ Studio Formats and Poser Format. Because the Poser Runtime Folder in the Content Folder often holds the Object files needed to load and OR the Texture files. NEVER list a DAZ Studio Content folder as ONLY DAZ Studio Format in your paths. they should always be listed under both as shown here...
EDIT: And Always Close DAZ Studio and then Open it again after adding Paths. They are only read to be used at OPEN.

Am I able to add pathes to that? Must have a look but at this time daz renders ... so I have to wait until its finished
Yes you Click the ADD button with one type Selected and Browse to the Path then do the same for the other path. I often have multi Paths set up as I do now...
