Before I do something dumb ?????

I finally found the pro version of Daz 4.5 It was on one of my disks, along with all the items that were once in the freebie section that is no longer available, on the old Daz site. It's odd that it's not in my account though and it should be. Unless I missed my guess, if I install it, all I have to do is register it and a serial will show up in my account. At least I think that is how it works. Now the dumb part. To install this, don't I have to uninstall the one I currently have?, meaning I would have to reinstall all the content I currently have installed? What I am not sure about is that registering it will make the serial show up in my account and end up doing all that work for nothing.

I want to make sure before I attempt anything, so any help would be appreciated.

What version do you currently have installed? Uninstalling only removes what was installed with the application, not any content installed separately, and it doesn't remove the CMS or its database.

The PRO version of DAZ Studio that you get from the store here is completely FREE. I can't see any advantage in installing an older version that you have on disk? The current release version is DS 4.6.1.39, and it is available in the store now FREE.

When you buy DAZ Studio in the store, a serial number is put into your account, it has nothing to do with registering it, that comes AFTER you have the serial.

As Mike says, installing a newer version of DS does not affect your content at all.

I have version 4.5.1.56 and I do manual installs, never used DIM. There are some exe's I installed of older content I had saved on disks, but not a lot. The Pro version I found on my disks is 4.5.0.114. I know I installed it at one time, as I clearly remember using Dynamic control paid version, which will not work in my current version as it's not pro and there is no serial for the version I have.

I seriously need to redo my disks and sort the programs properly, then I won't have this problem again...lol

Another thing is my tendency to be lazy, I don't always register unless a program won't work unless I do. Daz will work if you don't register it and I am thinking that is why I don't have a serial for the Pro version.

Earlier, after I found it, I tried to find out what account I used when I got it or if it may have been when my son had Daz. At one time I had four or more accounts at Daz at the older site. When I started with this latest site, I got rid of all those accounts and their emails. If I did use one of the other accounts when I got 4.5.0.114, then I put myself in a pretty pickle and hope I can still register it and get a serial.

    JimmyC

I can't use the 4.6 version of Daz because my computer can't handle. I tried to intall it and got an error message about not having enough resources and my graphics card not being current enough. This leaves me with using older versions.

I think you are going to have to sort this out with Support.

They may be able to allow you to download an earlier version since your PC can't run the newest version, but they are really the only people who can help you with this.
