The bracers came from this product: http://www.daz3d.com/shop/dragonlord-for-genesis/ * which I got as part of the M5 Pro Bundle--which I'd highly recommend if/when you start getting Genesis stuff. Or you might as well go all out and get the Pro Suite if you can afford it--it has the Ethnicity shapes and the essential Genesis Starter Bundle in it. The Benjamin character and the Manly Men for M5 product are part of the Pro Bundle (and Pro Suite) too.

I actually almost used the formerly free Genesis Bracers, but in the end went with the other ones. :)

*Something is weird with the in-store images for this product...

OK Scott-Livingston what if I got these sale items: Genesis Evolution: Muscularity, Genesis Evolution: Morph Bundle and the Ethnicity for Genesis Bundle. Would I still need an M5 and V5 figure? or would I be able to make my own characters with the items mentioned?
For Angel and anyone else who doesn't have M5 and V5: apparently they are included in the latest issue of 3D Artist Magazine! You might be able to find it in a Barnes & Noble, or you can buy it online: https://www.imagineshop.co.uk/magazines/3dartist/3d-artist-issue-43.html. I already own them (bought M5 here and got V5 free with another magazine) but sounds like a great opportunity for those who don't have them yet...

Anyway, great renders everyone! Man, I have to get those Men of Character at some point...

    OMG that's awesome!!

Adding a couple more characters to the list:
Kids- Jamika http://www.daz3d.com/shop/jamika-for-k4/ (that texture can go several ways)
    Female- Ambrette for Mavka http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/ambrette-for-mavka/83091

Love the reflective work and overall image KickAir8P . . .
Thanks -- I used DZfire's Real Metals shader set, it was perfect for this.

Can anybody here recommend a similar-to-this-thread deviantART group? I'm looking for one that focuses on black people as people -- I'm not objecting to cheesecake/beefcake per se, but I haven't been able to find such a dA group that I'd be comfortable submitting my Kid4 renders to. 8-/

Snow Sultan may know if there are any such groups on DA, but if all else fails you could always wait until this forum gets back too normal and share with us here!!! Can I ask what you mean by 'cheesecake/beefcake'? You can PM me if you feel the subject matter may be a bit controversial if posted.....

    eyecandy pinups, cheesecake=female, beefcake=male

scorpio64dragon's insanely good sepia M#(?) on the previous page is beefcake.. though skirting the line between that and just awesome art, mostly due to the masterful expression work.

ZamuelNow informed me about this fantastic thread over at Renderosity, and it inspired me to go away and create my own render specifically for here. This is my own V4 Rochelle character using the Marie Elite skin and rendered in Luxrender via Reality 2.

Kalypso, could I repost your mage Smacky pic on my dA page (with your permission and giving credit of course)?

Wow, NaChelle's been sitting in my wishlist for all this time and I can't believe I forgot to add her to the list here. Oops. I'll update either later tonight or sometime tomorrow.

Probably should post this here though I don't feel like trying to embed a resized image: http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=2341063

Sure Snow, feel free to do so. I got caught up with some unexpected renovating and haven't had time to update my DA page. Fortunately, I'll be on vacation next month so I'll get to it as well as finish up some more Smacky renders I've got half-done!

Darkskin-Love is one I'd spotted earlier -- I'm sure it's a great group, but not where I'd want to submit a render of a praying child. :ohh: I'll try Dark-Anatomy, thanks!

Kickair, Darkskin-Love is a good group and I don't think they'd have a problem with that image. It's nicely done and sweet. :)

YESSS Neftis afros are in the store! I know what I'll be doing today!

Thought I'd cross post this, since it's relevant:

African Skin Settings in GIMP from (almost) any texture.

In GIMP (and maybe any other bitmap editor)
    Use the Colourize Dialog (COLOURS:COLOURIZE)
    Hue - 23
    Saturation - 50
    Lightness - Negative 56
Do NOT forget, when doing the limps (I mean LIMBS, durn it… sorry, my spelling sucks cuz of missing fingers), to make the palms and foot soles LIGHTER. I did this by layering and erasing my new texture over the old one.
Meet Shahana! Dialed in on Genesis with the ethnic morphs and V5 morphs… I used Wsupatoi’s Trish texture to get this one… (linked to DiviantArt)

Glancing at things, it seems there may some cause and effect going on. They may not mind a cute pic but the 3D section is overwhelmingly pinups so it gives the impression that all that would be expected. Other sections seem more evenly balanced in art types.

I didn't originally notice that this was fibre hair. I've not been convinced by fibre head hair products so far (although Cath's body hair tests were great), but this looks really convincing in the promos. I'd love to see some users' renders with it.

Also, I like the look of Tyrese, but I hear the skin texture resource is the same as Benjamin, which I've already got. I'm wondering if it will different enough to be worthwhile—although I love the Tyrese morphs. There suddenly seems to be a lot of stuff I want, here and at Rendo—I'm not sure I can buy it all!

Yeah, I didn't actually know it was fibre hair either until I loaded it. Well so far in my opinion - The good: it's very detailed and highlights are accurate. The meh: it doesn't have nearly as many morphs as the Alicia afro, and the front hairs look really crinkly to me when the hair is made larger.

In this example, I used both the new Neftis afro and the Alicia one underneath to fill a bit of the empty space that Neftis' leaves. No postwork, so you can might be able see where they overlap. Anyway, I think all it will take is a little erasing over the edges to 'trim' it and it'll look good. Would definitely recommend this product while it's on sale!
