If the template is too small, say 1000 x 1000 instead of 4000 x 4000, you will need a program like UV Mapper Classic to generate larger templates.

What are you trying to texture?

The uvs may need to be relaxed to facilitate texturing both at the seams and to prevent stretching if morphs are applied.

The template, which I extracted with Stitch=]h Witch, is only 1028x1028. I'm realty just trying to make a transmap to make it sleeveless. Unless yoiu want it to look like they were ripped off and left jagged edges, you can't just turn off visibility on this one.

    So...how do I relax it?

There is an official UV available for it, on the product page in the store, under resources.

If you need it bigger than the one that is there then try something like UV Viewer, which allows you to generate your own UV map from the geometry OBJ and make it as large as you wish http://d3d.sesseler.de/index.php?software=other&product=uv_viewer

You can change the size of the UV Map in Stitch witch. It usually asks you what size you want when you save it.

If a product has a template, it will be in the Resource Files on the store page for it.

Templates have, I think, been moved to the Product Library page for the item instead of the store page.

I am not quite sure what you mean by "relax" a UV map. The UV map has to be used as it is drawn up, other wise the new texture won't fit back onto the model correctly.

If you want it to be bigger than 1024, then you save a new version, making the size bigger when the size dialogue comes up.

When UV mapping, how do i know if ineed a cylindrical, spherical, or planar map?

YOU DO NOT NEED TO REMAP IT, YOU JUST NEED TO GENERATE A BIGGER TEMPLATE.

UV mapper Classic cannot relax a UV map. You would need UVmapper Pro or another dedicated UV map app that has a relax function.

Relaxing makes it easier to match texture edges and prevent stretching of the texture when applied to certain body parts. The African elephant and rhino are two models I've used the relax uv function on, especially on the leg textures.

Thanks Cho for posting this link. Very very useful app. Such a small footprint but does a very nice job of saving out huge templates in PNG without a huge footprint. I saved out a very complex boot template at 4000 X 4000 and it was under 700Kb's. I'm impressed.

Carrara which LOH has relaxes UV's etc but I would not try it on a mesh that tessalated!

The BIG goof up is that LOH is using the Template files for the CONFORMING item and NOT the template for the DYNAMIC Gi. They do not use the SAME template maps. LOH needs to use the DYNAMIC set to edit.

    .....No.

I am using the conforming gi. My link was not a mix up. Thanks for trying.

    Just finished my first shot.

Then all you needed was a Opacity map for the sleeves. You could have asked and had that long ago.

That's an old product. UV maps for all new ones are in Product Librsry with the files now. Don't know if they are going to move all of the old products' UV maps there or not.

I think it's more of 'that's the way it should be' than the way it actually is...because I can see no real pattern to what is showing up on the store page and what will be in the library. There doesn't seem to be any cut-off, except the newest stuff is in the product library...maybe.
