Mac Laptop for Demonstrating DS?

I am considering putting together a presentation on 'how to make CG art on a low budget' featuring DS at a science fiction convention in a few months. I own a very old MacBook that cannot run anything later than DS2(!) and would have to replace it with a new one for such a presentation.

Would a recent-model MacBook Air fit the bill, i.e., be able to render things about as complex as the quickstart scenes in reasonable time, and be adequately responsive while posing, repointing camera, etc, etc? If I intended to use this a lot for rendering in the future, I would go with a Macbook Pro, but I don't see myself doing that.

    Hello, (missed this post before)

I would not use Mac Book Air as they are not really up to the heat generated from rendering. They will slow down to avoid burnout, at least the ones I played with a year or so back (A friend tried just that).

I would go for a Mac Mini with a cheap screen for a low price Mac OS X machine for rendering and working with DS, will give you most bang for the buck when it comes to Mac OS X and DS, or a Mac Book Pro, but those do cost a little more.
