I have a question (prepare to call me a noob)

So Typically I am a poser user but because Daz Studio has the tool that refits clothing from one character to another (with some limits I have noticed) and because Studio seems to make better use of the Genesis figures then poser the two combined advantages have me turning to studio for certain things, but here is the issue I am having... in Poser I can just go in to the material room on any material and go to the reflections option click a square and change it to ray trace... cant seem to figure out how to do that in Studio...

so how do I do that? assuming it can be done (Before people give me a look it up answer I tried and I don't know what search parameters to put in to get the result I am looking for)

If you select your surface, then go to the Surfaces pane and set the Reflection Strength to a non-zero value and don't have a map in Reflection Colour then you will get ray-traced reflections using any of the standard shaders (well, there are other settings that can sabotage the effect, but it should work with most things - note that the DAZ Default Shader gives fairly weak reflections if Opacity is below 100%).

okay thanks, I was just confused cause some items literally have a raytrace reflection drop down and others do not... any way thanks again ^_^

Right, I was forgetting that - uberSurface at least does have an option that lets you switch mode, as well as simply turn reflection on or off.

okay cool, you know there are some things that are definitely nicer about studio then poser and viseversa, Kinda wish Daz would just buy out poser and develop a version of Studio with the best of each, Smith micro has kinda started moving away from the digital art content any way. :P
