Best way to install base shaders and lights with Studio on OS X Lion withOUT DIM?

I do not want to use DAZ Install Manager. However, Lion somehow does not allow you to merge two folders as in Windows 7 (or really any version of Winodws). Instead, my only option is to replace the contents of the Base content folder (installed with Studio) with the contents of the Base Shaders zip file. Is there some trick to OS Lion? This is maddening enough that I would consider upgrading to Mavericks if it works there.

Thank you.

Mtn. Lion has the option of merging folders.

    http://www.cultofmac.com/242474/how-to-merge-two-folders-into-one-on-your-mountain-lion-mac-os-x-tips/

it can also be done from the terminal
    mv -v /Volumes/Internal/Users/[username]/Desktop/directory /Volumes/External/

there is also mac merger which is free

OS X does not merge as well as W7 does but it can be done from it.
