Daz3D 4.6 import error

Hi.. I'm newbie with this software...so please do accept my incompetence as normal...

Right, I have Daz3D 4.6, and as you know there's several websites that offer free stuff (Renderosity, etc) but then comes my headache...

I just can't import anything to Daz3D, it always gives me an error saying there's an error and I should look to my log...

I tried already the Daz3D fix that I found here....with no success...

Now here comes the question... how do I import stuff? (hair, clothes, etc) or where to?

It's pulling my nerves lol

Thank you in advance...

If the content that you are trying to use, is in a format that DS can read (CR2, PP2, PZ2 etc) then you should not 'Import' it, but load it the same way as you load DAZ 3D items, from the Content Library pane.

That means, if it is Poser or DS content, install it into your main DS Library folder (My DAZ 3D Library?).

What format is giving you trouble, OBJ?

    I don't get it seriously... shouldn't .duf be a Daz3D file?
I put everything in "My DAZ 3D Library" some in "people" and others in "runtime" in Genesis...like it was on the file I downloaded which it was mainly "hair"...

DUF is indeed a DAZ File format.

If you have it installed into your DAZ Studio content library, then it should load with a double click like any other file. The problem may be the content. DUF files carry information on where the content that it uses is stored.

For example, if I created a Scene or Clothing item on my PC, saved it as a DUF file, and then sent it to you, it would be no use unless you had EXACTLY the same setup as me, including folder names etc, and the same content.

What exactly is in your DUF files, and what errors do you get when trying to load them. You can look at the log file in Help > troubleshooting > View Log File

You are clicking on a texture preset without having the item it is for loaded/selected.

Ok.. probably the best question I can make is when I donwload something from Renderosity for example should I stick it straight away on the My DAZ 3D Library folder and that's it?! will it work this way?

What is causing the error is that it is a material preset for a specific hair. It won't load the hair model, just change its color. You need to load the hair first and make sure you have it selected in both the scene and surfaces. Then clicking on that preset will load the proper textures for it.

Odd enough I just looked and every single file is a texture it doesn't have a main one.... resuming I am really incompetent...

Going to try now if I can load some clothes...

    Thanks for your help guys

Do you have the 'Dawn' figure by HiveWire 3D installed, If not, then lies your problem. The hair prop in question comes with the free 'Dawn' figure. you will need to head over to their website and get it from there.

1st you need to head over to hivewire3d.com, head to the shop and get the free Dawn figure and install the files into their respective Daz3D folders,
you will then find the hair prop under the 'Content Library', In the following folder

DAZ Studio Formats - My DAZ 3D Library - People - Dawn - Hair

    See Screen Shot Below,

PS. If you are using the hair prop for any other figure than Dawn you will have to manually adjust the fit.
