Render? Turning off things?

I just want to make sure this is true.

I'm a musician. I use Logic to record on my computer system. When you mute tracks you don't need, you can't hear them but they still are playing in the background..

I would like to relate this to Daz Studio..

I've heard if you have a big scene, turn things off that are not in the camera view to make renders go faster.. This should make the calculations disregard everything that is shut off BUT IS this true??

Will Studio, like the above logic example, still keep in memory, or calculate "possibilities" of the turned off items???
Do you have to DELETE the unseen items in order to take the burden off of Studio in order to make the render go faster?

Thank you,
Steve

When you hit render, your PC exports the scene into a format which can be read by the render engine and then cleans up the files afterwards. When you hide an object using the eye icon these are not included in the export so that as far as the engine is concerned, they don't exist. This is very different than opacity, where if you make an object fully transparent (and thus invisible to the render engine) it is still calculated because the object has a physical presence in the export.

Thank You. I just wanted to make sure. I thought it was the case but sometime turning some things off doesn't make much difference.
