Realistic Modern Wheelchairs
Hiya!
I badly need a cool wheelchair for a project and right now I'm stuck between paying $50 for an obj on one of the general 3D model sites or trying to make my own (a pretty ambitious project for my skill level).
The problem I'm running into is that most available Daz wheelchairs are more like hospital chairs (there's a neat guide on the distinction by a wheelchair user here). The character I need it for is very well off and has access to some pretty wild technology, so I want to give him state of the art equipment.
I'd like to steer clear of overtly sci-fi chairs or ones based on cutting-edge prototypes, though, because many of those aren't designed with the input of people who actually use wheelchairs, and I've seen a lot of folks talking about how they're based on abled designers' ideas of what a wheelchair should have rather than what disabled users need. It'd be cool to see models based on what people are using right now! That way they'd be versatile for lots of different characters and situations.
This chair is pretty much exactly what I'm looking for, I think--I learned about it from this writer, who uses it to travel--but it'd also be awesome to have manual chairs like this.

There is a free manual active wheelchair at ShareCG: http://www.sharecg.com/v/51616/browse/11/Poser/WheelChair-Set-v1.0
Well, there's this, although it doesn't look much like your first option: https://www.daz3d.com/the-wanderer-mobility-scooter
Something sort of similar at Renderosity: https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/electric-shopping-cart-for-daz-studio-/115192/
(For some reason, typing in the word "mobility" at Rendo brings up mostly boats and guns ... I don't even want to know.)
It doesn't look like there's currently anything like the KSL manual at Daz, Rendo, or Hivewire. You can get an unrigged OBJ at Turbosquid for $34:
https://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/3d-model-of-active-wheelchair/914203
https://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/sport-wheelchair-3d-1288696
https://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/3d-wheelchair-1228385 ($10 for this one)
(Relatedly, I just realized that there's probably not one single accessible building in either Daz or Rendo. Lotsa stairs, a few elevators, not so many ramps. Though you can make one with Room Creator Stairs, at least. [... I think.])
Thanks, folks! The ones available at Turbosquid and CGTrader have the level of detail and accuracy I'm looking for, but I'm hesitant to spend that much on a format I don't usually work with, especially since they don't typically allow refunds if something doesn't work out. The $50 one I mentioned is actually a near-perfect replica of the power chair I linked.
I appreciate the links and I'll take another look through and see if there's anything that works. :D
Yep, that's another consideration I'm running into! Although fortunately with 3D models it's much easier to make alterations to existing floorplans.
