Will there be a DSON Importer for Genesis/Genesis2F/M for Poser 10?

Hello all,
I really would like to add my Genesis/Genesis2F/M figures to my Poser 10. But I noticed the DSON Importer is only available for Poser9/Pro 2012. Would anyone have any info on this?
Thanks!
Merc

The DSON importer works fine with poser 10 and Poser pro 2014. When using DIM to install it make sure you have the right application path selected (settings, Application tab)
Hey Jerham,
Thanks for the reply, and wow, really, DSON works on Poser 10? :D I think because I also use DAZStudio 4.6, and bring into my library there, Poser is finding errors with DSON. (I keep getting a 1% of DSON cannot be found) My Poser 10 is on my external HD I: (So I placed everything in I:/Poser10) Is the the correct place to put Genesis Starter Essential and the DSON Importer?)
Thanks!
Merc
DSON needs installed to your program folder for Poser.
It is also a good idea to install the DSON files and the Poser companion files to the same runtime. This runtime needs to be one that can be written to.
Poser 10 like Poser 9 is not a full 64 bit app. Some users find loading can be slow and even lead the Poser library locking up. If you find this, try an external library app.
Hey guys,
Thanks so much for the help and suggestions. I did use the DIM and selected my I:/Poser 10 folder which contains my runtime folder. But, for some reason, its giving me this error:
Install Manager cannot find a required path. The installer for "DSON Importer for Poser (Win 64-bit)" requires that the installed path for "Poser Pro 2014, Pro 2012 (64-bit)" be defined. Make sure that a path for this application is present on the "Applications" page of the "Settings" dialog, then try again.

Make sure that a path for this application is present on the "Applications" page of the "Settings" dialog, then try again.
I dont know what I'm doing wrong, can anyone weigh in on this message?
Thanks,
Merc
go to your applications tab in DIM and make sure the path for Poser is in there.
If you're using Poser 10 you need the 32-bit version of the DSON importer. The 64-bit is only for PoserPro, which is of course a 64-bit app. Standard-flavor Poser (9, 10, etc.) is 32-bit -- even if you're running it on a 64-bit OS.
Hey guys,
Thanks for all the help, I really appreciate it! I did what Frank/Byrdie asked but, still nothing guys. I cannot export from my DAZ library Genesis into Poser using DSON. It saying this:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "I:\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\My Library\Runtime\libraries\Character\DAZ People\Genesis\Genesis.py", line 1, in
import dson.dzdsonimporter
ImportError: No module named dson.dzdsonimporter
This seems like hassle to get Genesis to work in Poser, so, I'm just going to use DAZStudio for now when using Genessis/Genesis2F/M. Thanks again guys for the help!

Can you open up DIM and post a screenshot of the Applications tab (cogwheel in the upper right > applications)?
Hey Vaskania,
Sure, I can take a screenshot of whats happening. Here is my DIM window. For some reason, it wont let me select Win-32 version of DSON in DIM. (I have an OS of 64-bit and Poser 10-64-bit. (Byrdie suggested I needed 32-bit DSON for it to work)

Two questions. Apologies if you've already answered them before:
Did you uninstall DSON 64-bit before installing DSON 32-bit?
Did you add the DS runtime folder to the Poser Library? Poser has to know where Genesis is located in DS in order to work.
You don't have Poser added at all, and I doubt you have 6 versions of Daz Studio installed. Here's a shot of mine to give you a better idea of how to use that tab.
Hello Wheelman,
Not a problem, I dont mind answering these for you. The first question, I tried both DSON64-bit and 32, overriding one with the other and still, nothing. (I had to dl the DSON manually to get the 32-bit version) and 2) No, I wasn't aware you had to create a DS folder in my Poser 10 runtime for this ti work. Do I have to direct the DSON importer into that I:/Poser 10/DSRuntime folder?
Thanks!
Merc
Hey Vaskania,
Thanks for the reply, and wow, yea, mine DIM doesnt look like that at all. I purchased Poser 10 directly from SmithMicro, and installed it manually. I wasn't aware you could have installed it using a DIM, or that DAZ sold P10 at all. Is there a way to get it to appear in my DIM list, like it is on yours?
Merc
Well, you said that you use DAZStudio 4.6. So it's not a matter of creating a folder in Poser, it's a matter of adding the DS 4.6 runtime to the Poser Library. You can have the Poser Library access multiple runtimes in separate locations. When you have DS installed, Genesis is actually installed to DS's runtime. Poser needs to know where that is by adding that runtime to your Poser Library.
Vaskania's example merely shows how she has DIM configured so it knows where to install Poser files. DAZ doesn't sell Poser.
Hey Wheel,
Oooooh, I see what you're saying now! I have to basically add my DS Runtime folder (from my DaZ 4.6 one) into my Poser 10 folder, I'll do that now, thanks! Yea, that makes sense, I can't see DAZ selling Poser anyhow.
Hey Vaskania for that screenshot. I was able to add Poser 10 and my PS CS5 to my DIM list. :)
Nice! Be sure to correct those DS listings as well. You don't need all 6, unless you really do have 6 different versions of the app installed to those different locations. lol
I will Vaskania, thanks again for the help! I'm going to step away from the comp now, I'll work on this more later. ^^
Take care!

Suggestions:
Uninstall the DSON importer period. Check to be certain they have been uninstalled. Both in the main Poser app python folder and in the roaming app data python folder.
Download the 32 bit version of the DSON manually and install it manually to Poser 10. Even on a manual install, the installer tends to default to Poser Pro rather than actually check which version/versions of Poser you have installed. In fact the default uninstaller can be found in Smith Micro Poser Pro 2014 rather than the Poser 10 library.
Try creating a separate external runtime for your Genesis/Genesis 2 items to be used in Poser. Install the DSON files and Poser Companion Files to this runtime. Point the Poser library to this runtime and make sure the DSON importer prefs are pointing to it.
Much of a pain as it is, Poser prefers to have the DSON and PCF's in one single runtime. It get's less confused and can help avoid slow downs.
Hello icrprnss,
Thanks lots for the reply and suggestions on this matter. I have been trying to get this to work with all the great help from everyone here, but still, no luck. I will try your way in a few hours, and hopefully can get this thing to work! :D
Thanks again,
Merc
Just in case, maybe helpfull:
http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dson_importer/poser/userguide/dson_installation_requirements/start
Hope it helps. If you have any other questions or issues, just ask.
Holy cow,
It finally worked! :D Wow, I followed that awesome tutorial jerham posted, and DSON is working now in Poser. ^^ Thanks so, so much everyone for helping me with this one, I finally can see Genesis inside Poser, woohoo!
I just followed the general guidelines to install the DSON importer to Poser.
As indicated I installed it directly to the Poser file, so that seems ok.
Now, do I also have to install general DAZ genesis content into poser before I can install Genesis items into Poser?
Thanks for your help.
R
You just need to make sure you install the content to a writable runtime and point poser to that runtime
So if I make an external, separate poser runtime and put my G1 G2 stuff in that, is that what you are referring to?
Thanks.
Any and all of the stuff that is dealing with DSON would go into that folder.
