Does anyone have any insights into to who buys Daz 3D content, and what they use it for?

I can see people use it for creating images, comic books, animations, maybe games. Is it mainly hobbyists or professionals?

The majority of it is hobbyist. There are some professionals though. Games deal with a lot less poly count than what a majority of the stuff sold here is. I have seen quite a bit of comic book and some animation

    Greetings,
Once you've seen a significant percentage of the stuff that's for sale, it's amazing how often you'll notice objects or backgrounds you recognize, on book covers, flyers, posters. The occasional webcomic, also. Mostly stills; I haven't seen much animation that I can definitely point to. Someone pointed out that a news story on science used (IIRC) Flipmode's Planetarium for an animation.

Noticing Stonemason's stuff in a background shot, or Faveral's Medieval Tavern as the scene for a hidden number game in the iOS store is a blast...

There's also a huge market for hobbyist folks, which you can see in the Digital Art > 3-Dimensional Art section on deviantArt.

There are professionals who use this stuff extensively, but they evidently don't usually frequent the forums, having...I guess actual work to do. :)

DS and poser are entry level CGI software and from what i have experienced, mostly hobbyists, stills and animations. For any game use that uses the mesh you need a specific license which I doubt many have or can afford and only covers DAZ only assets and are still too resource heavy for most game use. So basically if intended for game use, they probably should look elsewhere for models made specifically for game use.

Commercially I work with several publishers and do stills for publications, posters and calender type applications.
