Light for orb in sceptor advice - DS

If I want to have a light coming out of an object, for instance, an orb on top of a sceptor that a figure is holding, what is the best light to use? This is for DS 4.6
It doens't need to be the one lighting up the entire scene, but I kinda want to have a "glow" (green in this case) to sort of show that it's a magic orb.

I used Area Lighting http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/14536/ on this http://itiseyemeeszark.deviantart.com/art/Black-Jack-277773453
But you could use a point light or linear point inside the orb but then you would need to set up the orb surfaces so it let light out.
The point light and area light do not affect the surface of the light emitter: does not matter which light you use, the surface remains dark. I suggest set the ambient strenght value of the orb to 100% and the color to green. This will give the surface unnatural green lightness that you want. Indeed, using a light source too - especially the area light on the surface of the orb - gives you a more realistic effect, though it drastically increases the render time.
Point lights In items work well if you set the items surface to have SOME transparency to it...
Edit to add I turned the light very low so it did not fall on the figure, it could.
The Advanced Spotlight can be used like a point light and not cast shadows off the orb or whatever its inside of.

I have a plasmaball freebie I created, but never released. It uses a sphere, geoshell, an adv ambient light, point light (point/geoshell can be turned off depending what look you want), and 3 versions of transmaps/displacement map I created in filter forge.
IIRC from the AAL thread, you have that light. I could finally pack up the scene subset w/ my presets if wanted.
